Exactly right. This is why the old west developed a criminal justice system which included a fair trial and proper hanging complete with hymn singing to prepare the condemned to meet their maker and a hood over their head to prevent a spectacle for the morbid.

They were an object lesson in the fate of those who violated civilized norms to such a degree that they needed to be kicked off the planet, but in a rapid and humane way.

Does that make the executioner immediately eligible for early release on grounds of good behavior.?

It is not that he sees himself as better than, it’s that he knows it could have been his child.

Interestingly enough, the females inmates who have abused children or elders, are not in the same “danger status” as the males.

It’s a fruit from lack of justice.

Our courts have stopped giving us justice. Child predators need to be executed.

But they aren’t. So some vigilante justice comes in.

It’s either vigilante justice or none at all.

I wish we had just laws and reasonable application of them. But largely any more we don’t.

I used to be a strong supporter of the death penalty. I changed my view after reading far too many stories of law enforcement officers coercing obviously false confessions and judges still admitting them, refusing the defense from presenting exculpatory evidence, withholding evidence that would be helpful to the defense, and when the defense later learns of the deceit and lies by the state that probe the defendant was innocent still does everything they can to keep the defendant in prison.

Too many judges do the same thing. The state mostly doesn’t care about justice. They only care about convictions, even when they know or don’t care if the the defendant is innocent.

Not everyone who is convicted is actually guilty. Law enforcement, prosecutors, and too many judges don’t care if an accused is actually guilty.

They just want convictions.

In this case what additional punishment can they give this individual?

If the molester had been sentenced to death, I wouldn’t have any problem with the sentence being carried out.

However, when we sentence someone to confinement, then confine them, we have a moral duty to protect them while they’re in our custody.

I don’t think it’s moral to sentence someone to confinement, then rely on other criminals to kill them. If the man deserves the death penalty, we should take care of that ourselves. If he doesn’t, or, at least, if he’s not sentenced to death, then his God-given right to life remains in force.

If someone deserves the death penalty then the citizens and the state needs to have the courage to administer it.”””

There are over 700 persons on California’s Death Row.

Some have been there for over 35 years. It costs more to take care of them on Death Row— in the neighborhood of $100,000 EACH per year.

Do the math & figure out how much money is being spent on these criminals & where that $$$ could be better spent.

In addition, when Jerry
Brown ws still Governor-—over $1 MILLION was spent to make this gas chamber ‘more gentle’ for those who should be in it.

NO ONE has been put to death in that new chamber, either.

Another boondoggle-—the specialty of California Politicians.

I do not argue with you, I think that the condemned should be put to death as quickly and expediently as time permits.

However I think that is the job of the State, and torture or murders by prisoners is unacceptable. This is unconstitutional and is evidence of a culture of chickens.
