There is absolutely no way they will call witnesses.
The Swamp is totally corrupt. It has become worse than ever. (Read Peter Schweitzer’s new book.) They see nothing wrong with enriching themselves and their families by selling their influence.
The Senate, both Democrats and Republicans, is the most corrupt of all. They are unbelievably slick and sophisticated at it. All of the senators are doing, in some form, what Joe Biden did.
Isn’t it revealing that *no* senator — even Lindsay Graham, Marsha Blackburn, Rand Paul, or Bernie Sanders — has said they think Biden did anything wrong? Likewise, they will never talk about the corrupt acts of Hillary Clinton (including the Clinton Foundation) or Barrack Obama, who are part of the club, one of their own. They will go on Fox and argue that Trump is innocent and the impeachment is a farce, but they are totally silent on anything to do with corruption, especially when it comes to senators.
The Senate is too worried about being exposed to risk witnesses or publically digging any deeper into quid pro qui, or prolonging the discussion in any way.
Almost every vote in the Senate is planned, pre-determined with great priority on how every senator will look to their constituency. They have all literally committed to protect each other, above all else, which means hiding the incredible level of corruption. (Elizabeth Warren crosses the line by criticizing Bernie.)
There is zero chance witnesses will be called.
One problem with your theory: The witness process will be that each witness will be proposed one at a time, and the Senate will then vote to approve or deny each witness in turn.
That there are enough turncoat RINOs to force witnesses in the first place means that there are enough RINO votes to block each Trump witness while approving every Dem witness.
The only fair way is to negotiate an entire list of all witnesses, and then have the Senate vote on that list.
But that is not the process. See the problem?

I don’t believe for a second they call Joe Biden, because that opens up too much exposure. Hunter is a Private Citizen and a different animal.
They vote first for any Witnesses.
They better call the Whistleblower. There is talk that Bolton was one of the sources for the Whistleblower. The fact the Whistleblower has remained anonymous and off-limits may account for Bolton’s changed stance on testifying.
The Whistleblower was also leaking like crazy to Media for an extended time before his complaint.

Rand Paul said before the Impeachment Trial started that they would set up these individual Votes so they could vote down Trump Witnesses, while allowing the Dem Witnesses.

The President’s legal team said they will go to court to preserve executive privilege and block witnesses from testifying. The Democrats are very reluctant to have any court weigh in on this issue.

It is totally wrong for the jury/ senate to try to save or bolster the failed prosecution/ house case. And there will be plenty of opportunity after these phony charges are dismissed to investigate the Biden family corruption mess, etc.
