I’d enjoy being in the fiber arts group. Sign me up! My main focus right now is quilting; I also like hand embroidery and crochet. I’m not an expert in anything but get a lot of enjoyment out of making things.

I'm interested in making, cheap, simple chapel veils to give away to women and girls who attend our Latin Mass or who pray at our parish Adoration Chapel.

I considered buying some inexpensive synthetic tulle and just cutting it into large triangles and hemming it, but that is maybe a tad "too" plain. (I wouldn't want to make them so clunky that nobody would take one, even for free!)

But that's near the skill and cost level I'm looking for. If it could e actually pretty, so much the better.

I know nothing about various kinds of cloth, or various cuts which would be good for a veil.

Anybody got any ideas? Anybody want to try their hand at it with a few scraps of stuff?

You could stitch some inexpensive lace trim around the edges while you hem them, unless you were talking about surging the hems. Tulle might be too stiff.

Hemming tulle requires serious sewing skills and is generally not done at all.

Might be better to use a zig zag stitch to attach an inexpensive lace to the edges.

The infinity veil would be super simple if you can find a double edged lace (both selvages have a lace edge) in the right width, you would only have the one french seam.

But I don’t know if it’s even made in a 24 in width.

My wife would not allow me to touch our daughter’s wedding dress...
That said I did make hundreds of placemats and doilies for under the flowers. For this, I used a friend’s computer embroidery machine. Names, date and short verse.

You may want to look at wedding runners, many floral patterns and weights. Just a thought.

I use them for the embroidery backing and prefer the heavy ones.
At the end of the evening, they were gone and I still see them used in friend homes.
