Planned Parenthood leader Alexis McGill Johnson slammed pro-life lawmakers’ efforts to protect unborn babies as “unconscionable” Monday in an interview with Democracy Now.
Johnson is the acting CEO of the largest abortion chain in America. Planned Parenthood aborted nearly 346,000 babies last year while reaping in $1.6 billion in revenue.
Though abortions are unnecessary, life-destroying procedures, Johnson referred to them as “healthcare” in her interview with the left-wing news program.
She criticized pro-life Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and others for including elective abortions in their temporary bans on non-essential healthcare during the coronavirus pandemic. Planned Parenthood is suing many of the governors to keep their abortion businesses open during the crisis.
“… a number of governors across the country have decided that this pandemic was the right time to create executive orders to restrict more access to abortion,” Johnson said. “And so, this is really unconscionable, the fact that people would use a pandemic to restrict access to healthcare, when in fact we should be trying to identify ways to expand healthcare.”
She claimed women have been driving “thousands of miles” from Texas to Colorado, California, New Mexico and other states “to seek access to get medication abortion, which is just two pills taken over 24 hours.”
Actually, medication abortions are dangerous procedures that destroy unborn babies’ lives and put mothers at risk. These drug-induced abortions have been linked to at least 24 women’s deaths and 4,000 serious complications. Complications include excessive bleeding, severe abdominal pain, infection and hemorrhage.
Johnson said Planned Parenthood is working to expand the availability of drug-induced abortions to rural women and women of color who do not have good access to health care.
But in doing so, the abortion chain could put women in further jeopardy. Pregnant mothers do not need abortions to be healthy. And if women in rural and under-served areas do take the abortion drugs, they may not be able to easily reach a hospital or medical professional if they suffer complications.
Deeply concerning, Johnson said there has been a “silver lining” for Planned Parenthood during the pandemic: the expansion of telemedicine.
With the coronavirus crisis has come a wide-spread push to expand the ability for patients to meet with doctors over the phone or a webcam for certain medical care, rather than in-person. However, the abortion industry has been trying to take advantage of these plans to expand its killing practice.
Johnson explained:
It is actually a silver lining in this pandemic, that Planned Parenthood and many other health providers have actually been able to really lean into telehealth infrastructure and provide service. I think the quote was something like “We’ve moved 10 years in 10 days.” … the fact that we will be in all 50 states by the end of this month to provide access to STI screenings, to family planning, to HIV PEP and PrEP, and, in much the same way as I said, to provide some wraparound service around getting access to abortion. That’s given us a lifeline into communities, particularly areas where the shelter-in-place bans are going to continue, as well as rural areas, where there may not be access to healthcare broadly.
Still, Johnson said they are concerned, pointing to 300 pro-life bills that were introduced in 47 states in 2019. She said they also are worried about Roe v. Wade being overturned, and they are planning for the day when states will be allowed to end abortions again.
Because of Roe v. Wade, about 61 million unborn babies have been legally killed in abortions in the U.S. The infamous case made the United States one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. As science advances and our understanding of life before birth grows, it is becoming clearer just how barbaric abortion is. Killing an unborn child is not health care, nor is it a solution to social problems. Unborn babies are unique, living human beings who deserve a right to life, and Planned Parenthood is in the business of destroying them.
At six feet separation, they will not be ‘needed’ so much.
So what really disgusts me about these people is not a 3 weeks into the pregnancy D & C .....so much as the 5,6,7,8,9 month infanticide they perform with glee.
I don’t back any abortions.....this is just what bothers me most.
Shhh! Not everyone is following that all of the time. When the lights go out and the news is over, separation rules are relaxed for certain activities.
Killing babies is very lucrative and is the only reliable for profit operation that Liberals are capable of managing because they have no competition.
