Can I rain on the parade?
Too bulky, too slow reload and low round count in the cylinder...at least compared to a semi-auto.
I’ve always liked a revolver best, went for a semi auto for 2 reasons.
1. Less expensive. I could get 2 of the 9mm Taurus G2C I did for the price of almost any 357 out there.
2. Slimmer and easier to conceal.
Otherwise, I’ve always liked a wheelgun better.
Revolvers generally contour to the human body better than most semi-autos. Ammo capacity is an advantage for the SA but it’s super low on my list of priorities. Unless you carry for professional reasons your chances of needing to fire your gun, much less needing more than the 2 rounds that is the average discharged in civilian self defense emergencies is so low it’s just not something I worry over. Reloading is a fair point. But again, gun fights are not resolved by who runs out of bullets first. They are won by who can put their rounds on target first. On my list of things I look for when considering a weapon for self defense ammo capacity, to the extent its on my list, is near the bottom.
Slower to reload -
Good point too. Low round count doesn’t nother me, I plan to omly need one...any time I need more than 2 rounds, I’m drunk or shooting at a frickin’ bear...
damn phone...nother= bother...
Revolver has always been one of my favorite Beatle albums.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the full, stereophonic recording of.....Oh....Wrong Revolver....Never Mind!
Had a Detective Special back in my gun shop days, got it for $60, employee deal. Colt’s Royal Blue was fine, what a great blued finish it was... (It’s all in the polishing work!)
Banana shape is horrible ergonomics. Ugly things and not designed for accuracy. I couldnt hit sh1f with my Blackhawk. Gimme a 1911 or Sig P226 any day.
But again, gun fights are not resolved by who runs out of bullets first.
Oh yes they are. When youre out of ammunition youre out of the fight.
Period.

I like my High Standard .22 magnum derringer. Two shots, no hammer to snag, will go through clothing. Yes, it's only two shots, but, for self-defense, probably all I am going to need. And, if up close, .22 magnum will wreak havoc on someone's mid-section or up under his/her chin. One bad, nasty little gun.
I carry a Ruger 38 special all the time, you can’t tell I have it on me, throw in a speed loader or two just in case, as others have said, in the very rare case if you need to pull your firearm, how many rounds would you really need, it would be highly unlikely that you would be engaged in an extended shootout...
There is no chance it jams, plus a 38 hollow point round is sufficient take down someone if necessary
Never jams.
Sick feeling to be in a gun battle and know you are running low on ammo.
Everything I need to confront seems to travel in packs. I own both revolvers and semi autos, I'll take a semi auto for the ammo capacity.
Wife and I were leaving a restaurant and I was fishing around under the table and she asked me want I was doing. I responded grabbing my rifle. That was the day I knew I was too used to always having my M4.
A good many pocket rockets (380’s, 9s) don’t have much more capacity than J-frame revolvers (5v6).It really depends on what “EDC” is for a person. I have an 8 round (357s) Smith that I really like, but I don’t carry it while in my speedo.
I like it because you don’t have to hunt around the scene for the brass.
“it would be highly unlikely that you would be engaged in an extended shootout...”
Huge difference between a normal self defense situation vs going to war.
Revolver is fine for personal defense but not for the end of the world situations.
Revolvers can most certainly jam. Ive had it happen. My Python locked up like a bank vault when a bullet backed out of a cartridge one day. Had to have a gunsmith fix it.
Opened my eyes for sure.

My Glocks are 100% reliable so far, at roughly the 500 and 700 round count ...
