Public affairs officer Capt. Jennifer Casey died in the crash, pilot seriously injured after jet crashed into house in Brocklehurst. Kamloops Mayor Ken Christian said the Snowbirds remain parked at Kamloops Airport for the foreseeable future.

The incident took place seconds after a pair of Snowbirds aircraft took off from Kamloops Airport at about 11:45 a.m. Dozens of versions of video of the crash and its aftermath circulated on social media in the hours that followed.

The videos show one of the planes flying vertically before a pilot is ejected, followed by an airborne explosion and the subsequent crash. Some clips show a second occupant of the plane ejecting shortly before impact.

Capt. Jenn Casey, the squadron’s public affairs officer, died at the scene of the crash.

Dana Hings, a retired nurse visiting Kamloops from the Lower Mainland, said she rushed to offer first aid after hearing the crash nearby.

“I saw a deceased female with catastrophic injuries,” Hings told KTW. “It looked like she hit a tree."

It’s a dangerous profession.

It’s not for everyone.

It’s totally and utterly unforgiving.

“I saw a deceased female with catastrophic injuries,” Hings told KTW. “It looked like she hit a tree. It’s insane. It’s not supposed to happen.”

Give me one good reason for the existence of ANY of these flying daredevil teams? (a rhetorical question, I already know the answer)

Don’t bother, there isn’t any.

They should expand the “missing man” formation to include ALL the aircraft.

I am completely series!

Aircraft is the CT-114 'Tutor', a 1960s era trainer, now almost exclusively used only by this air show demonstration team, Snowbirds, of the Canadian Forces.

R.I.P. to Captain Casey.

“It looked like she hit a tree.”

Plane was rolling and headed down. Looked like they still had a lot of downward momentum after ejection.

Did the aircraft lose engines? It appears out of control in the video prior to their ejection in a spin.

RIP young lady.

Looked like they still had a lot of downward momentum after ejection.

Exactly my observation from the video. They weren't "zero-zero" seats.

It is always so sad to hear about events like this but it always underscores that while the rest of us stay safe at home, some still choose to face danger to protect us.

RIP Capt Casey, we will never forget

In use, by the Snowbirds I assume, since 1963.

Currently not scheduled to be retired until 2030, having survived an axing in 2018.

Casey is the 9th Snowbird death.

One resident, about the the survivor on the roof, said that it didn’t look like the parachute opened very much.

Looks like he had a problem right after take off when he pitched up. Waited too long to eject.

She was climbing with a left turn at slow speedand rolled 90 degrees left resulting in no lift.

Nose fell and no recovery. Not a scenario you would see from an experienced pilot.

Here are four that are related. I doubt that they will mean that much to a non-aviator.

They are inspirational to watch and highlight the types of precision maneuvers that these aircraft and highly trained and talented individuals are capable of.

The type of training necessary to perform these maneuvers has been going on since WWI in one form or another and has been found to build confidence in those we depend on to protect our country in times of war and conflict.

They are an important recruiting tool used to gain the interest of young people who may not have considered a career in the military.

I took aerobatic instruction to increase my abilities to react in an emergency situation in our own aircraft. I feel that I would be much less likely to panic in an emergency situation after taking the training.

Pretty girl. She should have been somewhere making good kids and raising a family. What the hell has gotten into people that they think it’s so cool for daughters to do man things and ignore the critical and fundamental thing society needs?

A waste.
