Plane was rolling and headed down. Looked like they still had a lot of downward momentum after ejection.

Exactly my observation from the video. They weren't "zero-zero" seats.

It is always so sad to hear about events like this but it always underscores that while the rest of us stay safe at home, some still choose to face danger to protect us.

One resident, about the the survivor on the roof, said that it didn’t look like the parachute opened very much.

They ejected outside the envelope of the seats.

The pilot was lucky his chute opened before impact.
