I don’t know the extent of DC “home rule” power, but I doubt that it supersedes the authority of the president in this matter.
DC is not a state and the mayor is not a governor. Maybe she thinks being a black woman is equivalent to being a governor. Isn’t that all it take for a Democrat? To identify as a governor?
Keep in mind during Obama’s term he initiated a program to connect all the mayors in major cities acrosss the nation. Rahum Emmanuel and others like him brought it together.. Obama’s purpose was to connect mayors so that they could have ‘more power’ on the local levels by cnnecting them to each other..
At the time I metioned this was a power play bigtime for elections and various other events where the mayors would act as one politically and otherwise.
