Government health care restrictions are costing lives; Doctors who want to prescribe drugs like Hydroxychloroquine to patients with Coronavirus are forbidden from doing so

Free to Choose Medicine (FTCM) is a policy proposal that would lower the cost of pharmaceutical drugs while expediting approval of potentially life-saving treatments. In short, FTCM would relieve needless pain and suffering and save lives. So, why is the government anti-FTCM?

FTCM allows health care choices to be made by patients and doctors, not the federal government. In the drug approval process, after Phase I safety testing, and at least one Phase II efficacy test, drugs that are awaiting approval in the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) drug approval pipeline would be available to patients via a Free to Choose Medicine Track (FTCMT). FTCM would also create a Trade-off-Evaluation-Drug-Database (TEDD) so patients and their doctors could track the performance and results of therapies and drugs. Patient privacy would be vigorously protected in TEDD, which could only be accessed by patients and doctors to determine the risk-benefit analysis of specific drugs and treatments.

The need to implement FTCM has never been so pressing. Millions of Americans are battling COVID-19. Some doctors are attempting to treat the virus with chloroquine, and hydroxychloroquine combined with zinc, which is showing positive outcomes for some. These drugs have already been approved by FDA for uses in disease groups including arthritis, lupus and many other autoimmune disorders. Yet doctors who want to prescribe these drugs to patients suffering from coronavirus are being forbidden from doing so. As of now, these drugs fall under a category of “off label use,” which the government is currently restricting by controlling supply.

Send Black Lives Matter and Antifa over to the CDC to do their thing. Apparently no one else has the balls?

Have we gotten that weak?

Doctors don’t need permission to prescribe HCQ. But I have heard the pharmacist has to have a reason (as per the FDA). The doctor can make up literally any reason he/she likes. It doesn’t have to be a valid reason, either.

RE: The doctor can make up literally any reason he/she likes.

So, he can prescribe HCQ to me if I tell him that I see myself going to a third world country ( and then cancel the trip )?

Most doctors are in large group practices or hospitals and practice “corporate” medicine, most of which forbid doctors using HCQ and blindly follow CDC guidelines. Good luck getting in to see an independent practitioner practitioner.

Sure. HCQ is approved for other uses, too. Like arthritis.

Our Gov Sisolak, who was caught hording HCQ for himself, his family and convicted felons in prison, hasn't prevented doctors from prescribing HCQ.

He has "only" prevented pharmacies from filling those prescriptions under penalty of revocation of their licenses.

Just re-read the note from my Kaiser physician denying treatment with HCQ + +. For now, anyway, but he is looking to see if it changes. He points to Kaiser pointing to the CDC as responsible party for denying prophylaxis with HCQ for COVID19.

Does anyone recall “death panels”.... a politicized government run healthcare system will dictate how patients are to be treated but could also dictate who gets treated. Imagine BLM getting riled up because whites are over represented in coronary care units or your medical care is based on your social credits like in China.

That’s like saying you, a law abiding citizen, have a second amendment right, but any gun manufacturer who sells you a gun with will be prosecuted.

Which IN EFFECT means, you can’t own a gun legally, and doctor’s can’t prescribe HCQ legally.
