Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech shows positive results

An experimental Covid-19 vaccine being developed by the drug giant Pfizer and the biotech firm BioNTech spurred immune responses in healthy patients, but also caused fever and other side effects, especially at higher doses.

The first clinical data on the vaccine were disclosed Wednesday in a paper released on MedRXiv, a preprint server, meaning it has not yet been peer-reviewed or published in a journal.

The Pfizer study randomly assigned 45 patients to get one of three doses of the vaccine or placebo. Twelve receive a 10 microgram dose, 12 a 30 μg dose, 12 a 100 μg dose, and nine a placebo. The 100 μg dose caused fevers in half of patients; a second dose was not given at that level.

Following a second injection three weeks later of the other doses, 8.3% of the participants in the 10 μg group and 75% of those in the 30 μg group developed fevers. More than 50% of the patients who received one of those doses reported some kind of adverse event, including fever and sleep disturbances. None of these side effects was deemed serious, meaning they did not result in hospitalization or disability and were not life-threatening.

The vaccine generated antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, and some of these antibodies were neutralizing, meaning that they appear to prevent the virus from functioning. Levels of neutralizing antibodies were 1.8- to 2.8-times the level of that in the recovered patients.

It’s not certain that higher antibody levels will lead to immunity to the virus. To prove that, Pfizer will need to conduct large studies that aim to prove that people who have received the vaccine are at least 50% less likely to become infected. Those studies are expected to begin this summer, mostly in the United States.

Perhaps the REAL reason Fauci is stringing us out with masks and social distancing. If we reach herd immunity before those tests begin it will be impossible to ever prove that.

Not to mention the potential loss of billions in profit on a shot which is pointless if we’ve reached normal herd immunity levels.

If this really is the horrible deadly rampaging Chuck Norris virus that the media portrays it to be, 50% immunity really ain’t buying you much.

Do these vaccines have any dangerous side effects, or is the concern only over whether they can be effective? If there are no dangerous side effects, move into the hotspots now and get volunteers to take it.

That would significantly reduce the spread of it if that many people were immune - they not only can’t get infected, but they can’t spread it.

From the first sentence of the article:

none of the current quickie covid vaccines are really vaccines at all: what they really are is a giant gene therapy experiment to be conducted simultaneously on billions of people.

what will be injected is not really a vaccine at all in the conventional sense, but instead is a live, laboratory-made synthetic virus that they HOPE will produce a COVID antibody protein in response to covid antigen(s) spliced into the synthetic virus once the synthetic virus enters the host’s cells and hijacks their machinery, and then they hope that this antibody protein will provide immunity ...

heretofore, such recombinant DNA/RNA techniques mixed the antigen-containing synthetic virus into a bioreactor that uses immortal cell lines (usually perpetually-dividing cancer cells) as the virus hosts, and THEN the antibody protein that was produced was extracted and purified, and which in turn is the only active ingredient in the vaccine when it’s injected into people being vaccinated. The Flublok influenza vaccine is manufactured this way, for example.

however, the “new” gene therapy technology injects the synthetic virus directly into people being vaccinated, skipping the bioreactor, extraction, and purification steps, and instead uses the human body directly as the “bioreactor”. this is a technique heretofore never tried before, yet the plans are to try this on billions of people all at once. This gene therapy “vaccine” technology is not even really a new technology at all because it’s been around for a while, but big pharma knew that they could never get away with such gene therapy experimentation on billions of people UNTIL covid came along and the FDA could eliminate the bulk of their previous safety requirements because covid emergency ...

i for one do NOT wish to participate in this giant experiment ...

Dr Doom is very optimistc about this. As a matter of fact, with rigorous testing, peer reviewed reports and a series of trial, he says it should be ready for market by 2031.

I loved Rand Paul’s 6 1/2 minute rant at Fauci yesterday, but I really wish he’d use some of his hearing time to ask hard questions about Fauci’s personal financial stake in vaccine companies.

All of these pharmaceutical labs better have heightened security, not just to prevent Chinese stealing, but to prevent Left Wing ideologues from sabotaging their efforts.

A vaccine before the election would insure a Trump Victory. You know there are huge efforts to prevent that.

Bingo. The left can whine and complain all they want about the things President Trump has done or hasn’t done during the COVID-19 pandemic, but if he delivers on his promise of a vaccine, the left can kiss all those talking points goodbye.

I trust our President to provide the right environment for a safe and effective vaccine to be developed and deployed in record-breaking time.
