Berlin’s Mohrenstraße (Moor Street) underground station is set to be renamed due to racism concerns.
While the name of the station has been criticized for decades, the debate came to a head in recent weeks on the back of Black Lives Matter protests across Germany and the world.
During one Black Lives Matter protest, demonstrators covered the station’s name with cardboard to “rename” it as “George Floyd Street”.
BVG, the city’s transit authority, announced on Friday said the time for the debate surrounding the station’s name has come to an end. …

When I was last in Berlin in 1972, there was a subway station named Onkel-Toms-Hütte (Uncle Tom’s Cabin), which was named for a nearby bar and grill that opened in the 1880’s. The name was later given to a housing project built on the site. So far, it seems the name of this station has survived the onslaught of “cancel culture.”

What about Matamoros, Mexico? It means “Killer of Moors”.

And of course, every white person named Mohr, More, Moore, or Moores is a racist. They must all change their names to something less “offensive”.
Matamoras in Pennsylvania is apparently named after Heroica Matamoros, that coming from the US occupying that city first in the Mexican-American War.
And of course they must change every street name and monument dedicated to Ludovico Il Moro ("Ludwig the Dark-Skinned"), former Duke of Milan.
Do the Mauretanians know about this?

What a bunch of ignoramuses. Next they’ll demand changes to calling the English moors to some other name. It doesn’t matter that the term moor comes from the same Proto-Germanic, Old Saxon source as does the word morass.
