A Pennsylvania man is charged with kidnapping an 18-year-old Amish woman who investigators believe was “harmed” after being abducted last month, police said.
Justo Smoker, 34, of Paradise, was arrested Friday on felony kidnapping and misdemeanor false imprisonment charges in the disappearance of Linda Stoltzfoos, who has been missing since June 21, the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office announced Saturday.
Stoltzfoos’ whereabouts are unclear and an active search for her remains ongoing, but investigators “have reason to believe she was harmed” after being abducted. She was last seen walking home from church in Bird-in-Hand on Father’s Day while wearing a tan dress, white apron and a white cape, East Lampeter Township police have said.
Surveillance video obtained by cops that was enhanced by FBI technicians “depicts the abduction” of Stoltzfoos in a red sedan as she walked along her normal route home, prosecutors said.
“That video shows a red Kia Rio involved in the abduction,” prosecutors said.
Investigators searched a rural area late Friday in Ronks, where they suspect Stoltzfoos may have been taken after she was kidnapped and where a red Kia Rio sedan owned by Smoker was parked on June 23, prosecutors said.

I live in southern Pa with the Amish. They are good people and they will probably forgive him. I say hang him!!!
its easy to forgive if they know the “english” will actually administer the justice for you.
They have found her clothes. So she is almost certainly dead. And to compound the tragedy, her killer will almost certainly be alive 30 years from now.
It’s also worth noting that Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf has refused to sign any execution warrants. That’s because Wolf knows so much more about justice than do judges and juries.

Smoker is a common Amish name... Any word if he has connections to the Amish? Also, that part about the enhanced video is interesting. That is a very rural area to have it on video.
I’m not too far from the area and htere has been a few local stories. Word is that he was fostered in a Mennonite home. Also, he’s been in and out of prison. Reports f his latest release vary from 2019 to 14 weeks ago. Either way, he knew and worked in the Mennonite Community. Being held without bail at this point. it’s as ugly as it gets.
Yes. Lancaster online (behind the paywall) and others have stated he was fostered by a Mennonite family for years, hence the last name. Still has a a criminal history. Total bad seed.

The Amish community has been searching for her since she disappeared.
I’ve seen the local news reports daily. The longer it went the worse and sadder the reporters sounded.
