Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris returned to California on Tuesday as wildfires burn across her home state and much of the Western United States.
Harris, D-Calif., made her first trip to California since being nominated as former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate. She and California Gov. Gavin Newsom met with emergency officials as wildfires have burned more than 3.2 million acres in the state.
"Sadly, these wildfires and the devastation they cause are utterly predictable," she said.
Harris joined Newsom and the governors of Oregon and Washington, which have also been hit hard by the wildfires in citing climate change as a major factor in causing the deadly blazes.
She added that climate change "is not a partisan issue" after President Donald Trump questioned the science behind climate change and cited forest management as a primary concern.
"It is incumbent on us, in terms of leadership of our nation, to take seriously the extreme changes in our climate and to do what we can to mitigate against the damage," she said.
At least 34 people have died in the wildfires as of Tuesday.

Well it is true.
When you tell Antifa / BLM / Harris - Biden supporters to burn it down, and then give them money to buy matches and gasoline, and the know you will bail them out of jail when they DO get arrested, only a complete fool would think they would not.
If Kamala could have predicted them, why didn’t she predict them? And then do some concrete about it.
Raising taxes for climate change is the easy way out.
Actually going to the wilderness to clear brush and build fire breaks would take actual effort and know-how, which Kamala does not have.
Well, they were predicted. Because of rainy, cold winter and accumulation of fuel in forests due to mismanagement for last 100 years, about everybody predicted forest fires this year.
As a matter of fact, even if “global warming” is somehow involved, we really cannot do too much about it and it is government responsibility to assure the forests are healthy, global warming or not!
Unfortunately, these forests are government own, run by environmental lawyers. Nobody else can be blamed, but the government.
We need to have a party when it is 3.14159... years to the end of the earth.
Climate change argument is a convenient scapegoat.
“Utterly predictable” given anyone with any rational common sense would have foreseen the cancerous disaster of California’s Leftist enviroweenies forest management and state regulations from a mile away.

The left, obviously desperate for any distraction from Joe’s gaffes and dementia, is apparently trying to resurrect the climate scam. Understandable, they got tremendous traction out of the covid-19 scam. So they are going to try to bring climate back, maybe with some new twist they learned from covid-19. I can see it already. I drop into facebook maybe once a day or so to see if anything is happening with a few remote friends & family. Last few days (week or so?) fb has been pushing climate ads and BS...

The truth is that climate is a long-term chaotic system that has limits to its predictability. There is not even a way to fully test it under the scientific method. We know that it changes constantly, but we don’t know all the causal factors. We can’t just say “C02 does it” like idiots or Democrats. The science is far from certain.
