To: real saxophonist

Son and his girlfriend saw a trainload of them a couple weeks ago. Sounded like a battalion’s worth at minimum.

Most civilian Sigs are DA/SA.

My Legion is, but I think they have other types. I'm sold on the DA/SA.

As with anything guns, everyone has an opinion. As both a firearms instructor and having some connections with law enforcement professionals, I am informed that modern defensive ammunition for the 9mm is as effective as 45 ACP. Now I dont know if the military is still restricted to ball ammo or not for combat with the handgun. The 9mm is less weight than the 45 ACP by up to 100 grain or more, but the muzzle velocity is also anywhere from 400 to 600 ft/sec higher. the 9mm is smaller and lighter than the 45 ACP so you can carry more ammo, and mag capacity is more. So like everything, its a trade.

The 1911 in 45ACP is still a good handgun. But the P320 is as well, and has a lot of things going for it now that bugs have been worked out. The Beretta is replaces was a POS if you ever had to use it in a dry dirty environment. Besides being prone to malfunctions from seizing up with dirt or just not enough lube, the M9’s open slide design is everything you dont want for pinching/nicking skin when dealing with malfunctions.

Newer Sig models (i.e. P320, P365) are striker fired like Glocks.

Beretta makes a DAO (92D). Wonder why they didn’t just stick with Beretta since it’s already a known platform?

First pistol I ever shot on the range at Ft Wood in 1958!
Those 9mm look pretty but I want a pistol that knocks’em down!

As ol’ Colonel Jeff used to say:
“The 9mm has been killing Europeans for years. The .45 is the most proven manstopper, ever.”

Will they now sell their old service pistols back to the PUBLIC since they were purchased with Public Money. the way they did before 1968?

Don’t hold your breath.

We brought the .45 to two World Wars and beat the Germans who brought their 9mm. Hmmm

I like my .45 ACP, almost twice the bullet weight and almost twice the powder to push it. A lot more striking effect to a .45 tha a 9mm or .38 Spl.
