Ron Paul mocks Santorum and Palin for small crowds (Huh?)
The Washington Examiner ^ | March 5, 2012 | Joel Gehrke

Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, mocked Rick Santorum and Sarah Palin today for drawing smaller crowds than his campaign as he sprints to the Super Tuesday finish.

Paul's campaign announced that 1,300 people attended his town hall in Sandpoint, Idaho, which has a population of 7,400 people. "This contrasts with less-inspiring candidates struggling with diminished interest, including small crowd sizes for Rick Santorum in [the] much larger Coeur d'Alene, which neighbors Spokane," his campaign observed. "The 'leading' competing candidate drew a paltry 600 there on February 15th, and turnout for the Pual town hall event also contrasts with turnout for a previous Sarah Palin book signing in Sandpoint -- her hometown -- that drew about 750."

Over 1100 turned out for another Paul event in Fairbanks, Ala., the campaign said today.

I guess someone forgot to tell Paul how many people had to be bused in. What a joke this guy.

You know who got huge crowds? Could fill college auditoriums regularly? Ralph Nader. During his 2000 campaign he got massive crowds...which resulted in a whopping 2.74% of the vote on election day when it mattered. George McGovern also got huge crowds regularly in 1972 and we all know how that panned out for him.

Ron “Bradley Manning is a hero and a patriot” Paul has a cult following of fanatical support, but its reach is very narrow and not broad based enough to make any real difference as anything beyond a spoiler 3rd party candidate.

Also, Palin has always drawn huge crowds so it doesn’t make sense to me why Paul would use her as an example.

Someone had a national map of the counties Paul won the other day. Not many, and some of them you probably have to 4 wheel to get to. Yeah, he packs ‘em in.

It aint the crowds you draw Hoss, it’s the votes. How many has Paul gotten?

Ironic because Sandpoint ID is Palin’s hometown.

I have to reread it a few times, but I don’t think Palin was with Sanctorum or campaigning for him. It was simply making a comparison of Palin’s book signing crowd vs Sanctorum’s own crowd being roughly the same. I don’t know why Palin name was drawn into it

That’s like saying Denver, Colorado is my hometown. I was born there and left 3 months later on a train with my adoptive parents.

Remember that some of the most rabid Paul supporters here like the guy that was always posting Paul and Liberty threads, despised Palin.

A number of them posted about Palin supporters getting banned, and thought that JR was going to start zotting Palin supporters like on the famous Giuliani thread.

Dumb analogy on Paul’s part. Did those in Paul’s town-hall crowd each spend $25 for his book, wait in line for hours, outside in sub-freezing temps, to get a signature? Palin isn’t even a candidate, so how is it even an apt comparison to begin with? Add to that, how about the overall average attendence Palin gets at her appearances, like the one in Tupelo in October, in which 7000 came?

I have some Libertarian tendencies and might consider voting for Ron Paul ... if he were not such a consummate a**hole.

Yeah, a book signing crowd, where everyone has to buy a book to attend, is directly comparable to a rally crowd, where everyone attends for free.

Paul is not only an old fool, he’s a mean-spirited old fool. Palin has never shown anything but respect for the old goat, and she even endorsed his son. In return, Paul has consistently mocked, criticized and attacked Sarah Palin.

He can go to hell.

Nice misleading headline. It was a campaign staffer, not Paul who said that.

How many states did Ron Small win tonight?

Looks like the Black vote just didn’t materialize.
Looks like the Jewish vote didn’t kick in.
Looks like the White vote wasn’t in the cards either.
Looks like Fido is growling at a picture of Paul.
The cat just choked up a fur ball in front of it.

That about sums it up.
