Sam Graves endorses Ted Cruz: The Missouri congressman says the Texas senator “never wavers”

Eight-term Missouri Congressman Sam Graves on Monday endorsed Ted Cruz for president.

Said Graves of northwest Missouri: “I have personally seen Ted Cruz stand up and fight on the issues that matter the most to conservatives, even when it wasn’t popular in Congress. He has never wavered. He has always stood on principle. And he has always put the American people first.”

Graves’ long-time campaign consultant Jeff Roe is running Cruz’s campaign, so the endorsement is not a big surprise.

“As threats emerge – from ISIS, to Russia, to the Iranian nuclear program – we need a president with the resolve to defend our country and not back down,” Graves said. “We must secure our borders and restore the rule of law, and more than anyone running, Ted Cruz has fought to make this nation secure, while protecting our constitutional rights.”

Graves’ backing marks the first congressional-level endorsement of Cruz in Missouri.

The endorsement comes on the same day that Cruz’s wife, Heidi, visited Missouri. She attended a noon rally in Blue Springs with state Sen. Will Kraus, a candidate for Missouri secretary of state.

She also was in Jefferson City where she filed papers for her husband to be on the 2016 Missouri primary ballot....

It’s tragic that we’ve so forgotten what conservatism looks like, when we see it, it almost shocks us.

Blaoney! He has flip flopped on several issues - case in point - H-1B visas, just to name one. in my book, that is called wavering.

Hate to say it, but Cruz has no chance in the general election. If he is the nominee, we lose, and they will blame conservatism mixed with evangelicalism for it.

If Trump went down, I would vote for Cruz, but I would not think we had a chance.

Reagan signed an abortion and an amnesty bill. What is your opinion on that?

Ridiculous. Cruz is the only candidate with even the remotest potential of rebuilding the Reagan coalition.

You have it backwards. Trump’s negatives routinely top 50 percent among REPUBLICANS. If you think he has any chance — as in, at all — in a general election where Democrats will lie, cheat and steal to GOTV, you really need to think again.

I’ll vote for any of those two...Trump or Cruz on either side of the ticket. Prez or VP

I do not agree. Ted will have zero, I mean zero chance of taking any voters other than conservative republicans and maybe a few indies. Unless we take votes from Hillary, we will not win. Cruz has no chance to do that.

Yeah, it’s just so sad that U.S. Congressman Graves knows so little about what it takes to win an election when when compared to a miscellaneous poster on FR.

The opposition from the other side to Cruz has not yet begun. When it does, you will see I am right.

Yes, the train has left the station.

This time I whole heartedly agree with you, just except for the timing of when the opposition has started.

The opposition has already begun against Ted Cruz and has been for months here on FR.

And you can prove your assertion how?

I disagree strongly.

Cruz not only is likable (especially much more than Hillary), he also can draw in most independents, and even some conservative Dems. through his common sense policies.
