I don’t think Cruz is as anti establishment as folks here thinks

Being unliked is different.....and that he is

He is by far the preference of the GOP tonight over Trump

Tonight all GOP pundits could talk about was not Trumps huge near sweep but rather can they push Ted at a contested....not brokered....convention

It’s just bullshit

It’s over but they won’t admit it

"he’ll be a trivia question"

For $250...

o Tom Cruise
o Ted Cruz
o Penelope Cruz

Which one came in second to Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican Presidential Primary?

“The talking heads are saying that no Republican ever won the White House after losing Ohio.”
__________________________________________________________

Were they talking about the general election?

I believe no Republican ever won the GENERAL election without winning Ohio.

Trump could probably do it, since he puts other states in play in November that are not normally in play for the GOP.

I think Cruz should bow out pledge his delegates to Trump and be VP.

Trump way ahead of Cruz if others pull out! Just as true!

While its true that most Trump voters would vote for Cruz same is true that Cruz takes votes away from Trump. So for the good of the Nation Cruz should suspend and endorse Trump. He can’t win.

IF Ted is truly an insurgent he should make a deal with trump.

IMHO, Cruz has no path to an out right win now. The best he could do would be to win enough to deny the total math to Trump, and at this stage I feel that is a very outside chance in any case.

Yep - Cruz's only reason for staying in and not campaigning with/for trump is to act as a spoiler and hope to come out ahead at a brokered convention - too much like what Barbour and company did to Mississippi to re-seat Thad Cochran for my stomach to take. We will see what he's made of and whether he cares more about the People or about Ted Cruz in the next month...

Some pundits are likely to point out that if Rubio pulled out before today's primaries and if Kasich was no longer in the race, Cruz would have won every one of the Republican primaries. Had only Rubio pulled out, and if all of Rubio's voters voted instead for Cruz, the Texas senator would have still won Illinois and North Carolina, and come within two points of Trump in Illinois and within one point of Trump in Florida.

It really amazes me how stupid these pundits/experts are. In what world would every vote for Rubio go to Cruz? Could he get a bigger percentage of Rubio votes than Trump? Maybe? But every single vote? No Way. These people are supposed to be bright and astute. And what is even more frustrating is that some people here on FR run with this ridiculous talking point,

In the scenario I am proposing, Cruz would definitely be the VP. It would be a Trump/Cruz ticket.

I agree.

If he were to get together with Trump now, and throw in his eight wins (and what might be four or five more between now nd June) he would cement an absolute, large majority of delegates that would push Trump way over the top.

That would be good for the country. it would make absolutely clear that the anti-establishment candidates carried the day (and thus further drive the nail into the GOPe coffin) and it would solidify the people who voted for both candidates into a winning ticket in November.

I hope Cruz does this...Trump is not going to go to him and ask for it...Cruz will have to humble himself and seek it out.

I hope he does. As I say, IMHO, it would be best for the country.

But Clinton is no sitting target. She is doing better as a candidate than I thought she would.

Well, the FSA obviously does not care about her criminality and far too many "independent" voters will pick whoever they think is less scary. Clinton has no chance of appealing to independents, but painting herself as the "less scary" candidate is clearly an option that could work for her. Romney /McCain/Bush/Dole would never fight that kind of media mischaracterization - I guess it would have been "ungentlemanly" to do so. The GOP always thinks the burden is on them to not look scary.

Trump is going to have to continually punch Clinton right in the mouth, anyway - the way he did when she tried to stick the "war on women" meme on him.

I know but I think he is better situated the way it worked out. It is good to be lucky too.

I do not think the GOP ever kept obvious losers like Rubio and Kasich in the race to block thier own leader before this year. I think a lot of things that have never happened will happen this time.
