I am half Czech, on my Dad’s side (my Mom was Swedish and German).
My grandparents sent care packages back to the “old country” for years.
I LOVED Melania’s speech. I think she won a lot of votes. There are a lot of Slavic people, in places you wouldn’t even imagine. Of course, Chicago, but even, IIRC, Nebraska! (My new husband, at the time were driving to move to Colorado, and I was shocked to find Bohemian restaurants there).
And of course, given that the place we ate at was Bohemian, I wasn’t surprised to see a poster on the wall: “Eat Well Tonight! For Tomorrow, You May Die.”
Gosh, with my Swedish, German and Czech background... Let’s see, Kafka, Swedenborg, etc. :(
That must be I love corny dog movies. LOL! Air Bud, sappy but good. Old Yeller.. excellent, but only up to a point. LOL!
Please see my previous post.
Gloomy Eastern European ping.
Or, an amazing speech by a beautiful Eastern European woman who will be the next First Lady ping. LOL! :)
Don't forget the Shaggy Dog, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, and Lassie (another tearjerker - the TV show - in the end).
Then of course there is always Cujo to make you shudder with fear, only I found it to be a rather boring movie. Definitely not one of Stephen King's better stories.
I have been in and out of the room the TV is in, watching the convention. Did the sore loser Never Trumps walk out after losing with their snarky maneuvers? I ask because it looks like it is less crowded in the arena.
Kendal Unruh, had me calling her every nasty name in the book, under my breath of course. She kept uttering that we live in America not a banana republic, because they couldn't get a vote. Stating that people have a right to a vote. When in reality she was saying the delegates have a right to vote so that they can thwart the votes of the people. Needless to say I had to take a break from the TV when my restrain was starting to escape me!!!
Lord please forgive me for the thoughts that vile despicable nasty woman made me conjure up.
Anyway, yes Melania gave a wonderful speech. So wonderful that I thought of this song, that I personally think is cute. However, it seems to have offended some of those who are apparently more puritanical than those early arrivals who landed at Plymouth Rock.
