RNC 2016: Donald Trump may be all over the map, but that's a good thing | Mulshine

At a meeting of the New Jersey delegation to the Republican Convention in Cleveland last week, Gov. Chris Christie said he expects to see Donald Trump make a real effort to win New Jersey this fall.

"If he spends time and money he can be in play here because I don't think there is any great love here for Hillary Clinton," Christie said. "Given that he likes to sleep in his own bed at night, it's a quick trip over."

Christie went on to say that Trump and campaign manager Paul Manafort have also said that Connecticut will be in play this fall.

Connecticut happens to be the birthplace of the last Republican to win the presidency. But in his two runs for president George W. Bush didn't bother to make a play for the state in which he was born - or any other Northeastern states.

His svengali, political non-genius Karl Rove, crafted a strategy that called for Republicans to concede the big, electoral-vote rich states in the Northeast as well as California and try to craft a win by using the South as a base....

Trump doubles and triples down on Nationalism. In other issues, he is very flexible. Pence, therefore, complements Trump very well and is an excellent pick. Trump licenses his brand to Pence to run behind the scenes. At least operationally, Bush-Cheney in steroids.

Pence is to trump as Bush I was to Reagan. Trumps first major blunder. Not fatal but has long term negative consequences.

Ah Paul Shoeshine of the Newark Star Ledger

He is like the “conservative” Alan Colmes of the Star Ledger, when he isn’t writing his column, he is changing the toner in the copier, making coffee or deleting pro Trump comments on the forums

I will agree, New Jersey is in play

New Jersey is the silent swing state
