Republican nominee Donald Trump will address Hindu American supporters at a rally in New Jersey just two days before the first presidential debate next month. Trump is scheduled to meet the community on September 24. This is the first address by Trump to the community. The event is titled “Humanity united against terror” and is planned at a venue in New jersey which can seat 17,500 people.

“Trump will be with us for nearly four hours,” Shalabh Kumar, an Illinois businessman whose year-old outfit Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC) is hosting the event, told Hindustan Times.

As per a AFP report, about 2 million identify themselves as Hindus in America, while most of them are of Indian descent, others are from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Caribbean and Afghanistan. Although the number of Indian Americans is estimated to be around 3 million only a third of them said to be voters, of which most vote Democratic. This is despite the fact that only two Indian Americans, Nikki Haley in South Carolina and Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, who were both Republicans were ever elected governors.

As per the HT report, Trump ready agreed to attend the event when he met Kumar in July. ”He told me India was a great country, he liked Indian people,” Kumar said. He also said that Trump found Hindus to be peace-loving people.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich is the honorary chairman of RHC, whose inauguration in 2015 was attended by many senior leaders. When asked if organisers will be able to find enough people for the event, Kumar, said, “Oh there will be plenty of people don’t worry, we will be flooded.”

Some Bollywood stars are also expected at the event. Kumar said that Trump was fine with idea and said, “he said Indian people are beautiful”. Amar D Amar, a New Jersey professor who co-founded and heads Indian Americans for Trump 2016, a political action committee, told HT he will be attending too.

He said he was working with RHC and the Republican party to “to do it the right way”. As head of a political action committee, he cannot work directly with the Trump campaign.

Hindu Sena, an Indian right-wing political group, had celebrated Trump’s birthday in India with cake and balloons. They also held placards which read, ‘Long Live Donald Trump’.

Trump has said several positive and negative statements about India. He once described India as a necessary check to nuclear-armed Pakistan. He also said that India is among several countries stealing jobs from the United States. Earlier Trump had made fun of India’s call center workers and accused the country of stealing US jobs, later he issued a clarification in it. However, he continues to have fans in India.

A separate movement of ‘Hindus for Trump’ has been gaining speed on Twitter and Facebook recently. Their Facebook page can be seen promoting Trump in unique style. They go by the handle @USAHindus4Trump, and have started #HindusForTrump, explaining why they are support him.

Trump is seen sitting in a Yoga posture, on something that vaguely resembles a lotus with petals in colours of the American flag.

I’ve read that there are estimates that 100 million Hindus and Buddhists were killed as Muslim armies marched onto the continent. It turned Buddhism into a world faith from all the refugees.

The story happened before Europe was a world power, proof that Islam was at war with the world and conquering the infidels - so we can’t blame terrorism today on Christianity or Europe’s rise to power.

Indians know this from their history, which is why they support the only US candidate willing to call Islam the threat it is.

People from India should be some of Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters, their country is living proof of how critical it is to control Islamic immigration. India is a thriving successful Democracy. Right next door is Pakistan, a backward Islamic hell-hole which was partitioned from India in 1947.

If India hadn’t exiled so many of its Muslims to Pakistan in ‘47 does anyone doubt that it too would now be a backward Islamic hell-hole?

Trump is looking more presidential with each passing day while Cankles looks more like a candidate for a nursing home.

Hindu population in US up by over 1 million

Muslims constitute 0.9 per cent of the total US population, while the population of Buddhists remained at 0.7 per cent during this period, the study said.

By Press Trust of India, The Indian Express, May 13, 2015

The population of Hindus in the US has registered a significant increase of over a million in the last seven years, new research study has shown.

The number of American Hindus rose from 0.4 per cent in 2007 to 0.7 per cent of the total US population in 2014, a rise of over a million in real terms, according to a latest Pew research study.

Muslims constitute 0.9 per cent of the total US population, while the population of Buddhists remained at 0.7 per cent during this period, the study said.

Hindus, along with Jews, are the highest educated community with maximum annual family income among all religious groups, said the study released yesterday.

“Fully 77 per cent of Hindus are college graduates, as are 59 per cent of Jews (compared with 27 per cent of all US adults),” it said.

“These groups also have above-average household incomes. Fully 44 per cent of Jews and 36 per cent of Hindus say their annual family income exceeds USD 100,000, compared with 19 per cent of the public overall,” the study said.

According to the report, Hindus, Muslims and Jews are the three religious traditions that retain the largest shares of adherents raised within their group.

Among all US adults who say they were raised as Hindus, fully 80 per cent continue to identify with Hinduism as adults while most of those who no longer identify as Hindus now describe themselves as unaffiliated, it said.

According to the study, 90 per cent of Hindus say they were raised as Hindus. Further, Hindus are more likely than any other religious group to have a spouse or partner with the same religion (91 per cent), it said.

There are 2 million Indians living in the US; approximately 1 million are from Hindustan. They are strong on family, strong on education, and all about commerce and development. I could easily see them going for Trump.

In the major cities on the East Coast, this is a huge voting block. India has been adding to our engineering and high tech population for decades. Mostly Hindu.
I think Hillary made some not so tasteful comments about immigrants from India and 7-Eleven stores some years ago...
