SC Justices.
It's the number one reason I voted for Trump.

Well, 35 certainly looks gerrymandered to keep a democrat, but 27? Not so much, IMHO

More winning. SC makeup is the (only?) reason lots of folks voted for Trump. It was right up there on my list.

Thanks for posting. I hope Wisconsin gets a similar ruling. Arnold Schwartzenegger, of all people, doesn’t like the way Wisconsin districts are drawn and thinks they should be redone. May I point out that Ahnold doesn’t live in Wisconsin.

Don’t forget the never trumpers wanted a liberal Supreme Court.

Recall that the District Court drew the map that it determined was unconstitutional. After finding that the map drawn by the legislature was flawed, the District Court forced Texas to use a map drawn the judges. The Texas legislature said fine, we’ll use your map. The District Court said that the legislature’s adoption of the District Court’s map was racist. No joke.

This was the correct decision.

Otherwise, they would have to invalidate all the districts in the U.S. since they all have been drawn to benefit the party in power at the time.

Do like we do. 3 bedroom, 2 bath 1,425 square foot home for $1,000 a month in a DFW suburb.

Credit where credit is due...thanks, Mitch, for slow walking the Garland Supreme Court nomination until 2017.

On most other issues, Meh

An ideologically divided U.S. Supreme Court

When the rule of law prevails 5-4, they are "ideologically divided". When judicial activism prevails 5-4, the answer becomes "the settled law of the land". The bias from propaganda outlets like Reuters is staggering.

The Democratic position on redistricting is essentially that “democratic” is effectively a proxy for “black” or “Hispanic,” so that anything that disadvantages democrats is racially discriminatory. The implication of this is that Democrats demand pro-Democratic gerrymandering as a constitutional necessity.

Yep - if it isn’t rigged as an advantage to Blacks and other minorities, it is obviously biased against them....until a rare bit of common sense is victorious.

Well, 35 certainly looks gerrymandered to keep a democrat, but 27? Not so much, IMHO

Look at C-34 just south of CD-27. Much of CD-34 used to be in CD-27, but after the 2010 census, population gains in the Rio Grande Valley meant the legislature had to add an additional predominantly Hispanic district somewhere. The legislature just took areas that hand been added to CD-27 after the 2000 census to bolster Solomon Ortiz' declining voter base in his home county of Nueces.

Ortiz thought he could never lose in the district drawn up after the 2000 reapportionment, because it had so many Hispanics. He was wrong. He hardly ever was seen anywhere in the district for the last several terms he served. He was spending more and more time in China where his political cronies had set up a consulting business to facilitate kickbacks to his family.

Ours is a $1500 per month, 4br 2.5 bath 2500 sq ft brick in a western suburb of Houston. No flooding here. Pay attention to the topo maps and select a newer subdivision with correctly designed retention ponds (ours doubles as a park with playground, pavilions, soccer field, and baseball diamond. Running track around the street level perimeter) and appropriately designed storm sewers.

Sounds nice... I would like that. A couple acres to have a pack of hounds running around would be nice too.

When finances get a little better and I’m done work. Few years....
