GOP lawmaker calls for preemptive strike on North Korea (Rep. Duncan Hunter)

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) is calling for President Trump to preemptively strike North Korea.

Hunter on Thursday warned that North Korea could have a nuclear missile aimed at naval bases in the U.S., including San Diego.

“Why would they not aim here, at Hawaii, Guam, our major naval bases?” Hunter said, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. “The question is, do you wait for one of those? Or two? Do you preemptively strike them? And that’s what the president has to wrestle with. I would preemptively strike them. You could call it declaring war, call it whatever you want.”

Hunter is a member of the House Armed Services Committee.

Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have seen an escalation of tensions in the wake of a series of missile and nuclear tests by the North since Trump took office this year.

In a speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump said that if the U.S. is forced to defend itself or its allies against North Korean nuclear action, he will “totally destroy” North Korea.

Kim responded to these threats by calling Trump “mentally deranged." Trump retorted on Twitter on Friday morning, calling Kim a "madman."

Trump on Thursday signed an executive order to introduce a new set of travel and economic sanctions on North Korea.

North Korea has been touting its nuclear capabilities in recent weeks and claims to have successfully tested several missiles that can reach the continental U.S.

Why can’t we just start a fake news story that the US is moving a laser satellite over NK...and that any missile with a nuke will be detected and fired upon launch...thus detonating the nuke over NK soil? We could also start a rumor that Trump is seeding NK clouds with hormones to make everyone big butted.

We need to shoot or not shoot, but until it's done we should not talk about it.

You could call it declaring war, call it whatever you want.

How quaint. I'm old enough to remember when you had to call it War, and Congress had to declare it. But, hey, Hunter's "call it anything you want" paradigm has certainly replaced that.

The 3.5 earthquake (in North Korea) may be God taking down his nuclear test mountain.

North Korea had 6 nuclear tests in this mountain at depth zero kilometers. Now 3.5 earthquake (considered natural and not man-made) is at depth 5 kilometers.

It has been speculated that the mountain might collapse because tests were done on a horizontal shaft. Safer to do this vertically.

May be radio-active junk in atmosphere that will be detected if this quake is from mountain collapsing where 6 nuclear tests were done...

Great to hear from Duncan, a chip off the old block. I greatly admired his father and am happy the son lives up to his heritage.

The sanctions will work if the Korean people can be starved into action. So far they seem content to die in droves.

Why stop at Sandy Eggo? The NORKs can aim a missile at Omaha, too, but that doesn’t mean it will get there. But go ahead on, bailiff. Whack his peepee. It only gets worse the longer we wait.
