For many on the American Jewish left, President Donald Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court is the last straw. Like his "zero tolerance” immigration policy, the prospect of ensuring a solidly conservative majority on the high court is viewed with horror by many who see this as the beginning of the end of liberal democracy.
Indeed, Trump’s presidency is so abhorrent to those who deplore his policies that they have ceased to view politics as something on which decent people can agree to disagree.
That’s the only explanation for why even normally sensible people like historian Laurel Leff, whose book about the way The New York Times covered up the Holocaust is still essential reading, would essentially defend the public harassment of Trump administration officials on the specious grounds that Jews who opposed the Nazis in the 1930s were also viewed as not being civil to Germans.
Whatever you may think about the enforcement of existing U.S. immigration laws or about the future of the U.S. Supreme Court, Holocaust analogies to what is happening in the United States are as unhelpful to helping us understand what is going on as they are egregiously wrong.
There is a lot to criticize about Trump but, as the battle over the court reveals, most of what he’s done as president are things that any Republican would have done since, to some surprise, he has largely governed as a conventional conservative....

Liberal/leftist American Jews (I’m not one of them), can continue to say the same “Nazi” thing forever. They are like a parrot that only knows one or two words and saying them continually.
These mentally warped snowflakes wouldn’t have lasted a second in the resistance against real Nazis. They would have become KAPOS faster than you could say “SOROS”.
The best way to describe them is “Big mouths; no brains”.
Or, from the few Yiddish words I learned as a kid, “SMUCKS”. “Du beist Smucks”.
Sane Jews are those who love God, Torah, America, Israel, their family and friends, help strangers without any guilt trips attached to it, believe in tolerance, and acknowledge that there are many enemies of Judaism, Jews in general, American and Israeli Jews in specific, (among others) who are very willing to slaughter us just like the Nazis did, and can come from domestic American communists, Nazis, racists, black extremists and some American muslims. Also we know that they are too often backed by liberal Jews who’d sell out their souls to ease their built-in “guilt complexes” from the Depression, being economically successful, Feminazis, as well as being highly educated (getting a degree is not the same as being smart and having common sense).
We DO NOT make our existence once great guilt trip for the ills of the world. We do what we can realistically do to help, but we do not make fools out of ourselves by working with our enemies who want to destroy us.
Some of us learned about our “enemies” in school, esp. Hebrew school, where at least,three of my teachers were survivors of concentration camps (including Auschwitz) and one, Mr. Eli Velder, was an American soldier who liberated one of those camps.
Lessons learned. Lessons never forgotten.
This is who we sane Jews are (and I’ll speak for all those great people I have known for over 65 years). We’re proud Jews, Americans, and human beings, and we will protect our country from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Period!
This is the paradox: The American Right strongly supports Israel, but is constantly being called “Nazi” by American Jews, who are overwhelmingly Reform, and thus, just barely to the right of Marx.
Israel praises Republicans as defenders of freedom.
American Reform Jews say Republicans are the second coming of Hitler.
This is starting to hurt Israeli relations, and Israel knows it, but they don’t call out their American Jewish brethren because that would be seen as taking sides against the family. But if they don’t, they’re going to lose a great deal of that American support.
What they are ultimately accomplishing is deadening the ears of Americans to the horrors that the Nazis did to the Jews and other peoples of Europe at the expense of future generations who might actually have to deal with a reincarnation of the next true Nazis.
I’ll pay them no heed until Trump starts the building of gas chambers and ordering of really snappy looking uniforms for the Servants of Satan to wear as they begin rounding up the next inmates for the new concentration camps.

A progressive is a progressive, dem or republican, Jewish liberal or otherwise.
Making the matter about Jews objectifies them and serves their victimhood.
