Breaking with many Republican colleagues, the Kentucky senator Rand Paul has revealed his concern over Donald Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to replace Anthony Kennedy on the supreme court.

Paul told Fox and Friends on Sunday he was worried Kavanaugh, a judge on the DC circuit court of appeals, could cancel out supreme court justice Neil Gorsuch’s vote on fourth-amendment cases and allow the federal government to collect the phone records of millions of Americans.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation rests on a knife edge. Republicans hold a 51-49 advantage in the Senate. They need a simple majority or a tie broken by Vice-President Mike Pence to confirm Kavanaugh as Trump’s second supreme court pic, after Gorsuch....

Uh-oh. Goosebumps time again as R.P. stirs the pot before changing his mind back.

As the Sportscasters say to each other these days “Come on, Man!” Get with the program. You can continue your Palling Around with Libertarians after we get that crucial second appointment to the Supreme Court. So Chop-Chop!

It is okay to play the point But trying to win the match will be costly for everyone.

He was seeming less like his dad’s tilting at windmills and a consensus builder — this could hurt that appeal.

Rand is such an attention whore, and he’s probably just posturing here. But if he’s not, and he ends up joining forces with the Democrats to sink this nomination, he may as well kiss his political future goodbye. The GOP base will never forgive him.

Have one hour of hearings and vote on him this week with all republicans, then get on to the next justice.

This six months of posturing should end now

Of course he does, because he is Rand Paul, the gift that keeps giving and now from what I hear the Progressives are getting a foothold in his backyard.

It’s just Rand being Rand. From what I can tell, Rand Paul is a good guy, and he really cares about personal freedoms. My prediction: If it comes down to his vote as being the deciding vote, Paul will vote to confirm.

I’m willing to listen to what he has to say. I have an open mind when a libertarian speaks as opposed to a typical Republican in the US Senate.

No need for panic IMHO I would agree with you on that, I don’t see Rand moving off to vote NO.

I think that the President and the Senator might talk things out down the road. I would not be surprised if that happened.
