Probably the same reason that the Senate voted to keep on funding Planned Parenthood in the budget. And there were the usual quisling Repub female senators who did their Democrat bidding.
I make it a point to sincerely pray for McCain and his family everyday...
Because the Lord requires us to pray for our enemies.
In this, I truly hope the man repents by explaining all the inexplicable falsehoods regarding his Vietnam situation, as every other POW from Jeremiah Denton on down, thought he was a rat liar.

His non action and silence while Palin was being crucified is abominable.
