More than two dozen Maine women, many of them survivors of sexual assault, are in Washington D.C. Thursday to try to meet personally with Sen. Susan Collins before a confirmation vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Becky DeKeuster of Sidney is among those who chartered a bus from Portland Wednesday night in order to attend a noon rally outside the Supreme Court, and to lobby Collins and other senators who have not yet announced their positions on Kavanaugh.
Speaking from the bus, DeKeuster says there's more than one reason Collins should vote “No.”
"I want her to know, number one, that this man has — well his nomination — has ripped scabs off, it has brought up some really deeply buried, very painful — some of the worst moments in people's' lives,” says DeKeuster. “His temperament? Can you imagine a Ruth Bader Ginsburg at a hearing like that, behaving the way he did? He does not have a Supreme Court justice's temperament."
A spokesperson for Senator Collins says that she is meeting with various groups Thursday, and that the office is attempting to schedule staff meetings with others who show up.
Annie Clark, the Senator’s communications director, says that her boss has already spoken to hundreds of Mainers about the Kavanaugh nomination. Clark also says that Collins and other Republicans were being briefed this morning about the findings of the FBI's supplemental investigation.
So because some women were allegedly victims in the past of sexual assault, all men accused of that by anyone must be rejected for higher office, jobs, promotions or anything positive?
Personally, I would like to see it fail and then activate “The Graham Plan” and send the question to the electorate. We could gain in the House and end up with 60 Senators. Then what would Mad Max do?
Collins: Understand that these people are paid agitators from various leftist front groups. They have no interest in the truth and will never support you anyway.
She brings up Ruth Bader Ginsburg? The woman with the judicial temperament to publicly proclaim it would be the end of times if Trump became president? The woman who said it’s time to move to New Zealand?
Too late, bitches. So like the left wing, trying to intimidate Senators. Is Soros paying for the bus ride?

That’s interesting. We cancelled our vacation to Maine this summer because we thought we were moving out of state (the deal fell through). It would have been interesting to see this on local tv.

The bus ride is originating in Maine but I don’t for a moment believe they are women from Maine. These are professional protestors who get bused around from cause to cause.
We're slowly getting to the point of moving out of state... Our CT gubernatorial election result will determine how fast we move on that, I think. We still have lots of work to do on our house before we can move anywhere else, though.
The ads were constantly pounding away in Maine... mostly CON, I'd say, but the pro ads were there, too. Some PAC was behind the pro-Kavanaugh ads. NARAL financed at least one or two of the anti-Kavanaugh commercials.

I live in Maine.
Those ad buys have tapered off, but the anti-Kavanaugh spots were irritating, featuring a middle-aged woman who has two daughters, was in an “abusive relationship” when she was young, became pregnant, and had an abortion “because that was the only option available to her.”
I’m yelling at the TV, “What about adoption as an option?”
There were endless spots in August and September. I haven’t seen any in the past week. Some of them were truly awful: “He put his hand over my mouth, I thought he would kill me, etc.” BS.
Some of those spots were pro-Kavanaugh, like you said.
All the ads urging Collins to vote “no” or “yes” (if the were pro-Kavanaugh spots).
Rent-a-thug - wonder what these people get paid - and if they have health benefits?
Soros is usually cheap with these throw away types.
Maine is kind of confused - I vacation on St. George Peninsula where the Wyeths and that John Roberts (SC) live. And yet the people who live there are very working-class and a lot of them have Trump signs (gigantic ones!) on their front lawns - as well as Confederate flags.
DeKeuster may have chartered the bus.
Who/what paid for it.
Well they do get a free boxed lunch and a free T-shirt.
