Its a good time to be in the pain relief industry. Many Americans are likely experiencing headaches from all their shouting while others are experiencing neck pains from shaking our heads so much. The state of politics in America induces maximum pain on those of us who are paying attention.
As a co-founder of the Federalist Party, Ive been asked by many recently why Ive been so heavily focused on helping Republicans win. Im not a Republican. I believe the majority of GOP politicians are weak, moderate, self-serving, and not fulfilling their promises. We still have Obamacare. Planned Parenthood is richer now than theyve ever been. Theres very little progress towards a border wall. The tax reform thats been touted so heavily is a decent tax cut, but far from reform. Budgets that were already through the roof under President Obama are now so high one could hardly see the roof if they looked down from such heights.
No, the Republicans have not done a great job, but its a lesser-of-two-evils world for now and their opponents have an ideology that rivals Nicolás Maduros on the Evil Scale. If I could have put forth viable candidates this election as wed hoped we could a year ago, my tone would be completely different. Instead, were stuck with the unibrow party false dichotomy, but even in this false dichotomy were forced to make choices. I choose to oppose the leftist surge.
With that said, Im going to offer some advice to the Democrats. Hit the brakes on your leftward lurch. You were far enough to the left with Bill Clinton and Teddy Kennedy. You were too far to the left with Barack Obama and Harry Reid. Now youre plunging into the fiery pits of socialism, communism, and authoritarian fascism with Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris. Hit the brakes now. Pull the emergency brake lever. Release the rear parachute. Do whatever you can do to reverse the hard left path youve chosen to travel ever since conventional wisdom failed you with Hillary Clinton and the 2016 election.
Now that the advice has been delivered, I can sleep well knowing I didnt engage in helping the milquetoast Republican Party without at least offering a consoling tip to their competitors. I can now go about the business of aiding in a return to the one thing America needs now more than ever: civil discourse.
Many on the left are pushing against civility. It seems that the passions of the left have ignited, which is good as long as theres discourse. Without discourse, the fire they light can spread out of control. Whats left is the dumpster fire the Democratic Party has become. Sensible Democrats dont know whether to jump off the Democratic Socialist train or jump aboard because they arent sure whether it can carry them to victory of over a cliff. At this point, its still uncertain, as disconcerting as that may sound to those of us who are terrified by the prospects of far leftist victories.
One thing needs to be understood by Republicans and Independents watching the Democrats commit self-immolation. The majority of Democratic voters are not that crazy. The silent majority of Democrats want to talk through differences. They appreciate the lowered taxes theyre seeing and the jobs that are emerging. They dont like the prospects of an originalist-stacked Supreme Court, but theyre shaking their heads at people clawing at the doors of the Supreme Court just like the rest of us.
The unhinged minority on the far left are ruining the country for everyone. Theyre drowning out the sensible voices of polite Democrats, embarrassing themselves in the eyes of most Independents, and drawing amused chuckles from Republicans. But the real harm theyre doing is theyre preventing civil discourse from being the right option in most situations.
Civil discourse would have prompted Democrats to take the accusations against Brett Kavanaugh directly to the entire Senate Judiciary Committee as soon as they seemed credible.
Civil discourse would allow Kanye West to visit the Oval Office without being racially slurred and ridiculed by mainstream media on national television.
Civil discourse would spark an issues-based conversation at a Washington DC restaurant with a Senator and his wife instead of forcing them to leave out of fear for their safety and the safety of other patrons in the restaurant.
The anger that has been channeled by the far left is artificial. Thats not to say their anger itself is artificial, but the way theyve channeled it is for maximum social media sharing rather than for exacting real change in the way the nation is governed.
Did the far left start this? Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe it was President Trump. Maybe it was President Obama. Maybe it was the Tea Party. Maybe it was Black Lives Matter. Maybe it was white nationalists. Maybe it was #OccupyWallStreet. Im not here to assign original blame to the far leftists for the anger they feel, but I will absolutely assign blame to them for their actions and reactions. They may not have started us down this road, but theyve taken their unhinged antics to entirely new level that makes civil discourse nearly impossible.
This election is about more than just control on Capitol Hill. Its about telling Democrats if they choose to listen to the unhinged far left, and this election year they have, then they will not be given the privilege of representing us.
Theyve got to lose bad enough that Pelosi Schumer and Feinstein feel compelled to resign.
I agree - no quarter. In every conflict, one side has to capitulate. In the past, the parties acknowledged one side had power and knew their place. This is not the case with the modern RAT Party. They need to be put down severely.
Those three will cling to power until their last breaths.
I wouldn’t cry if any or all of them resigned though.
Discourse?
There’s never discourse with the left.
The Left tells us “Either follow dis course, their course, or we will destroy you as a matter of course”.
Defeat won’t learn them. Sorry gang, the history of collectivism is a bloody one.
This election is more than for control of capital hill, it is also for control of state government, which will directly influence the 2020 redistricting. 2020 redistricting will dictate the House make-up for the next decade and the state legislatures elected in 2018 will more than likely be the ones redrawing the districts.
Steyer, Soros and their commie compatriots are pouring money in at the state level for this reason, ex. the communist candidate for Florida governor Gillum.
,,,bloody one....
Yup.
America is suffering from spiritual ills. Believers in God are suffering under the harshest spiritual enemy attacks in a long while. Unbelievers are going wild in manmade schemes. If it weren’t for my spiritual hackles being up about wickedness, I think I’d quit.
The lede article author believes in a “Federalist party” but Federalism is really a philosophy that can be held by people in any nominal party. It comes from a term meaning to believe. But there has to be something worth believing in. The founding days were marked by an agreement on the bible on the main. What goes around today parading as liberalism is quite illiberal because it isn’t based in any sane concept of the will of God.
God please help our country. The right is in a fog of nominal godliness and the left is quite lost in secular humanism. This leaves godly liberalism as a rarely spoken for orphan, with most ideas of it presupposing the government rather than the church as agent.
This is not a plea for applause to me as a thinker, but for a return to sane godliness. If nothing fills the vacuum of godly liberalism, then erring secular versions of it will, which is why it is hard to see them end.
I would like to round up all the commies and deport them to North Korea!
For civility to return, we’ll have to go through all levels of education in a straight up inquisition to rid that field of degenerates, commiescum and SJWs and all who’ve bent the knee to PCism.
Same for politics.
Same for state level offices.
Same for county/parish level offices.
Same for city/town/township level offices.
And finish up with neighborhoods.
Otherwise, let the body politic continue to rot with leftist gangrene.
honestly, if they lose big (and I hope to god they do)
they will get worse...
democrats are the most fun when they are out of power (Rush Limbaugh)
For Republican’s future, I hope the November elections are not a slam dunk but rather somewhat close. Let the Democrats continue to make asses out of themselves!
Hogwash.
They would need to be pulverized - they are so desperate and demoralized they cannot even fake civility and a big loss will be great for the country but send them the rest of the way over the edge - they will incite even harder hoping to turn their useful tools into even more useful martyrs...
