The Tireless Ron DeSantis.....making Florida even greater
National Review ^ | March 8, 2019 | DEROY MURDOCK

Posted on 03/11/2019 7:02:00 PM PDT by entropy12

After contested recounts in Broward and Palm Beach Counties, DeSantis, 40, prevailed over Gillum, 39, by a margin more svelte than Palm Beach — 49.6 percent to 49.2 percent. Among 8.1 million ballots cast, just 32,463 votes divided victor from vanquished.

Most significantly, DeSantis replaced three Florida supreme court justices who were required to retire at age 75. His appointees — Barbara Lagoa, Robert J. Luck, and Carlos Muñiz — have shifted the court’s composition from four liberals and three conservatives to one liberal and six conservatives. This jump to the right should keep the Sunshine State’s top tribunal safe for constitutionalism.

It was too close for comfort with Gillum losing by just 0.4% of votes cast.

never mind the stupid margin of victory, a win is a win and is in the damn past. Let’s talk about the future and he’s doing fine replacing those leftard judges with rightwingers..

I had my doubts about DeSantis going in, but he’s kicking ass and taking names so far.

Gillum was being investigated by the Deep Staters at the FBI. I assume as high profile has increased as a Democrat on the national stage they no longer have an interest in his case.

It would be great if he found a way to stop the influx of NY liberals migrating in to the state. By 2020, FL will be blue.

Ditto myself. I really misread him. But with what he’s already achieved; how can I not wish him well?

We had New York liberals moving into Florida when I was a kid in the 1960s.

What a lot of folks on FR forget is that a lot of blue state transplants are conservatives looking for a place to breathe the air of freedom once again.

That actually makes good sense seeing that no one is going after him.

Florida is being Hispanized in the way California was the past 30 years. These Mexican and Guatemalan dirt farms arriving in in the sunshine state are not conservatives. Guaranteed.

I certainly appreciate this article, which concisely stated all the positive things our new governor has accomplished in his few months in office. I’m SO happy that we finally got a first rate governor. Go DeSantis!

Voters in Florida skewed right in 2018 while the rest of the country took a sharp left. Also, our governor has cleaned up Broward and Palm Beach counties which were a hotbed of voter fraud. We’re in good hands here in the Sunshine state.

Freshman Senator Rick Scott had an even tighter election - a 10,000 vote margin.

DeSantis barely beat a scandal plagued Black Democrat.

And the news gets worse - Florida voters restored voting rights to 1 million convicted felons, and 70% are Black and Hispanic.

Obama won Florida twice. Gore lost Florida by 540 votes.

Trump won Florida by 113,000 votes in 2016. He's going to need a miracle to win it again in 2020.

If the election were today, Trump would win by a somewhat comfortable margin. He polled in approval rating ahead of either candidate last fall, and the Dems have regressed sine the midterm with their crazy antics. Still, Election Day is a long way off.

Desantis is on course to eclipse even Rick Scott who was the best Governor we have had in decades. Desantis could be even better.
We tried to get him for our speaker at our Reagan dinner fund raiser but he's so busy he just could not commit at the time. Maybe later on in the year we can get him.
Hes a budding rock star and would be a far better VP than Pence.
