Like Reagan, Trump and The Economy Are Winning Over Millennials
The Epoch Times ^ | May 20, 2019 | Thomas Del Beccaro

The latest Zogby poll shows that a majority of Millennials now approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance. That is a stark change from recent years—and just like Reagan in the 1980s, the rising economy is changing their mind.

It has been 32 years since Ronald Reagan was president. Much has changed since then. The Federal budget was a quaint $590 billion when he started (about $1.5 trillion in today’s dollars) and will be $4.75 trillion in 2020.

The Soviet Union is gone and the European Union has been on the world stage since 1993. At home, social issues have taken center stage and the ideological dividing lines between us have hardened in this Divided Era. Voting patterns are not quite the same either.

According to polling, Millenials and Generation Z (the demographic younger than Millennials), are more liberal than older Americans. Pew Research’s January 2019 polling indicates that “members of Generation Z (the generation after Millennials) hold many similar views to Millennials, and both tend to be more liberal than older generations.”

A good deal of that relates to social views. For instance, 59 percent of Generation Z believe that “forms or online profiles that ask about a person’s gender should include options other than ‘man’ or ‘woman,’” while less than 40 percent of Baby Boomers hold that view. Half of Millennials support the Generation Z view as well.

“Generation Z” as defined here would be 18 and under. How young does the polling go?

And Buttigigi is the first millennial presidential candidate ever. Turned 18 in January 2000.

The oldest millennial is what 36? Thats 30+ years to plan for a wonderful retirement if you know where you want to be when that time comes. Sis/Medicare won’t be there for them so we/THEY need a 30 year plan. WE can help them with government policy. It’s called the Contract With Millennial America.

Millenials are no more stupid than Baby Boomers and their hippie ways, GenX and the 8 years of Clinton they helped give us, and every other generation's youthful idocracy.

Further, the St Louis FRB's FRED database shows the current unemployment rate for 20-24 year olds is the lowest it has been since before the 2001 recession and right around 1970. Yes, the current 20-24 yr old UMP is higher than that in the later 1960s and most of the 1950s. But if they are stupid, at least the current crop of 20-24 year olds sure seem to be relatively better employed than at most recent time periods.

I've said this before and I'll keep saying it. I fail to see why everyone loves to bash Millenials. Sure, they have their fair share of pod-eating Antifa-loving snowflakes who were all-in on Bernie and Hillary. However, every generation is dumped on by the elders, but in general they get more conservative as they age and turn out to be fine, upstanding citizens.

Most of the Millenials I know are either Deplorable or Centrist. Lately, they've become more horrified by their snowflake-bretheren, and are generally responding by doubling down on conservatism. Some 'kids' who may have chafed at Trump in 2016 are now thinking that jumping on the MAGA train isn't such a bad idea, as the article suggests.

Given that Trump won by 76k votes, we need all the help we can get. I would encourage all people who reflexively bash Millenials to consider maybe inviting one or two of them that you know out to the range or something to loop them in to Camp Deplorable.

If we don't, we run the risk of President Kamala Harris outlawing ammo while some of us middle age people wonder why the young ones didn't respond 'appropriately' to being ridiculed.

A lot of them are. Then again some are so far-right they’d be banned on FR.

Political centrism is dying out.

When did Bill, Hillary, Bernie, Waters, DeBlasio, Warren, Ginsberg, etc. become more conservative or even fine upstanding citizens? they are ancients with one foot in the grave and have stayed on the Leftist agenda since the 1960s.

I’d count them as leading representatives of the Baby Boom generation. Held high office and little work in the public sector outside of political activism.

The country as a whole has to be stupid majority. Why else would Hilda beast get millions of more votes than Trump.

That's more like a 'fashion of the time' statement ... like asking boomers 50 years ago if they trusted anyone over 30...

The old leftists mentioned above are just life long radicals like Alinsky and Marx were. They are a special breed of lunatics.

(federal budget in 1985) about $1.5 trillion in today’s dollars and will be $4.75 trillion in 2020.

~~~
3 times bigger.
Is it 3 times better?
Is it even as good as it was?
The entire federal government needs to be shut down immediately, and each agency can be re-opened after submitting to a thorough audit and restructuring!
