Brit Hume: Pete Buttigieg "Most Impressive" Candidate Since The Emergence Of Barack Obama

Brit Hume delivers his reaction to Sunday's FOX News town hall event for Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg. Hume said it will be "interesting" to see how Buttigieg measures up to former Vice President Joe Biden if they are on the same debate stage together.

"I think Pete Buttigieg is the most impressive by far candidate in terms of just raw political talent in the Democratic field. And he may be the most impressive candidate I've seen since the emergence of Barack Obama," Hume said Monday.

"Just in terms of being comfortable with himself and being fast on his feet and I think in the debates it will be interesting how he stacks up. It will be interesting to see how Joe Biden -- much more experienced, older, now leading -- compares with him if they're on the same stage together," Hume added.

Britt Hume is giving us a straight count, his conservative bona fides for the position he holds have been held in high regard by us for many years. I do not understand the need to reflexively round on Britt Hume with petty insinuations simply because he tells the truth about the evident histrionic skills of a Democrat candidate.

It should not be necessary to point out that Hume's comments are relative, that is, Pete Buttigieg is the best of the Democrat field for the assets of "raw political talent" and ability on his feet about which Hume carefully qualified his observation.

In limiting his praise by confining it to being superior to the Democrat field, Hume leaves the inference that the rest of the field is subpar indeed.

He did not say the Buttigieg is better than Trump and he carefully qualified his statements by noting that Buttigieg's policies on many subjects such as abortion are well out of the mainstream.

Why are we compelled to attack Britt Hume merely for stating that which is obvious to many?
