Will there be a "profiles in courage" Democrat?
When a future "President to be" writes a book on "profiles in courage" will a chapter be directed to a current Democrat senator who has stood up and said "this case is without merit, flawed with partisanship, and in no way rises to the level justifying impeachment. It should be dismissed out of hand".
He would be crucified by his fellow partisans, but how would history (and his great grandchildren) remember him.

No.
Maybe Kyrsten Sinema?
No.
Never.
Not a chance.
Maybe in a fiction novel.
If I pinch you, will that wake you up?
No. There won’t be one. Even if a dem senator votes against witnesses, it won’t be characterized as being courageous. At best, it would be called political expedience.
I don’t think so, because there is no doubt that Trump will be exonerated; will not be removed from office.
Senator Edmund Ross was in the book “Profiles in Courage”, because his was the deciding vote to acquit President Andrew Johnson in his impeachment trial, and he was subject to immense political pressures as a result.
In this case, even if a few Democrats cross over and vote to acquit Trump, I don’t think their actions will be considered historic.
No.
The guy in Alabama may vote correctly...Manchin might as well. No other Rat will even consider serving their nation rather than Rat Party Headquarters.
Which reporter would ghost write it for him?
25 years ago, yes. Now, he or she would be shouted down by Bernie’s Boys, and discover four flat tires on their car after the meeting was done. Either the Dem Party splits into two separate wings, or the commies & Islamists will continue to take control.
If ANY dem senator does this they will win their next election in landslide.
Kyrsten S. is one to be watched. She may be similar to ‘my new friend’ Tulsi. Don’t know for sure yet. Kyrsten seems to think for herself. Both women would be useful to the GOP if they can get their minds right.
My sentiments on both counts
possibly one....Susan Collins (RINO) Maine...
Shes running for re-election you know...
It’s a reality that few if any of the current Senators are capable of a principled stand that costs them anything.
If at the final bell, it is clear that the result will be acquittal, some Dems from states Trump carried in 2016 and is polling well in for 2020, might abstain or vote for acquittal. Hate to be so cynical, but I’ve racked my brain trying to think of a single Democrat with character and came up dry.
“but Ive racked my brain trying to think of a single Democrat with character and came up dry.
“
Mitt Romney provides them all with deep cover.
I was thinking maybe Kyrsten, my senator, but probably not.
Nasty old Chuckie wants to claim the Senate acquittal vote was totally partisan. Hell physically beat the cr@p out of Kyrsten if she doesnt do what he saysor hell force her to give him a BJ.
Manchin is owned.
He’s a tool.
Can’t believe how many fools are manipulated about him.
I don’t know that there is a very large supply of courage on the Hill.
Just a different example — I was listening to Mike Gallagher this morning and he was talking about which Republican senators might vote to include more witness. Among those who he thought might vote for that was Lamar Alexander. Gallagher commented, he is retiring, so he has nothing to lose.
If this is an accurate about how senators think — I’ll vote for something as long as it doesn’t damage my career — then, no— there will be no courageous standouts.
All politicians should read the book, though. It might have the effect of stimulating the consciences of some of them. Wouldn’t that be something!
