Action Alert: Stop [NM] Dems’ automatic mail-in ballot amendment that may open door to fraud (New Mexico special legislative session)

🚨DEMOCRATS MAY BE TRYING TO STEAL OUR ELECTIONS AND YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY REQUESTED🚨

It was announced that the Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s bill (SB-4) to force through an all mail-in ballot election in 2020 would only get one committee assignment and it would be on the fast-track thanks to the Democrats’ dark-room deals and closed-off Legislative Session from the public.

The Senate Rules Committee added a critical amendment to the bill redacting language forcing through the dangerous option for county clerks to automatically send absentee ballots to every voter in their county — stopping language that may have opened the door to massive fraud. But radical groups are urging senators to add a floor amendment to add that dangerous language back in.

PLEASE EMAIL NEW MEXICO SENATORS AND URGE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THE ADDITION OF THIS DANGEROUS LANGUAGE INTO SB-4

I have a cousin who is very active in Republican politics in Farmington. She told me “You can’t imagine how vile these people are and what they’re planning”.

Second Ping on this. The ABQ Journal reports the bill was reported out of committee without a provision allowing county clerks to send ballots to all on the voting rolls:

Election procedures bill advances out of Senate committee

SANTA FE – A bill authorizing new election procedures for New Mexico’s 2020 general election advanced Thursday, but only after a Senate committee stripped out a key provision dealing with voting by mail.

In its initial form, Senate Bill 4 would have allowed county clerks to mail ballots to voters in early October, even without voters first requesting an absentee ballot, as is currently required.

But critics claimed that provision could lead to voting irregularities, and two Democratic senators who were defeated in this month’s primary election – Clemente Sanchez of Grants and Mary Kay Papen of Las Cruces – ultimately joined with four Republicans to amend it out of the bill.

Sen. Gregory Baca, R-Belen, said the bill as initially drafted would have removed voter fraud safeguards by allowing for ballots to be mailed directly to voters without being requested.

Election procedures bill advances out of Senate committee

In addition to stripping out the send-ballots-to-all provisions, the senate committee adopted a provision that allows registered independent voters to vote in primary elections changing their status to Democratic or Republican at the time of voting. The bill, SB-4 was approved 40-2, sending it on to the House.

Though the urgent need to contact state senators has passed, you might want to let them know that if the House adds back in a provision to send ballots to everyone, the Senate has to stand firm in their vote.
