This is one Bush Republican that has no intention of stopping her support of President Bush because of the ruling of the SCOTUS. I don't work that way and this The Sky is Falling nonsense is getting annoying.

Instead of figuring out ways to work around this ruling some people would rather whine and put their heads in the sand that it is all over.

Do you see the NRA whining -- not on your life -- they are exploring ways to buy a media outlet. If you get dealt a bad hand, you play with the cards you are dealt. Your way elects a Dean or Hillary but then that is what some of you want it seems. Then you can get everyone on your side to complain.

Well this Bush Republican is not giving in to your The Sky is Falling Crowd! Maybe some of you should wake up and realize what this Country would be like under Hillary Clinton since you and others are trying to undermine Pres Bush every step of the way with your vanity posts just as you did Arnold. Well it didn't work with Arnold and it won't work with Bush.

All this post of yours had done is make me convinced to work even harder for the reelection of Bush-Cheney. I am not a one issue voter and will be because you will never find the perfect candidate.

A Hillary or Dean as President are not an option for the health of this Nation and for me personally.

If you don't like the fact that Bush Republicans are on this forum then ban us! What makes you the sole power to determine just what is conservative -- I didn't realize you were my judge and jury and frankly I resent this starting up like it did with Arnold.

Put the pressure back on Bush. He needs to hear our outrage loud and clear, and he needs to tell us what he's going to do about it. No excuses. He's the leader of the majority party in the Senate and House. If he says, "We screwed up. Let's repeal this abomination," they will listen to him.

True enough. I believe that ALL campaign finance laws are unconstitutional. The first amendment says the congress shall make NO law abridging the right of the people to free speech, free press, and free assembly, etc. I'm in favor of taking out all laws that violate the first amendment. Writing and calling these people would be a place to start.

I concur. Here are mine.

1. As angry as I am, I believe that "the next civil war" is not necessarily upon us.
2. Here is the plan of action that I think we must pursue:
a) We must start a grass roots campaign to begin writing ALL of our Senators (regardless of party affiliation) and the President and DEMAND that the FIRST order of business of the New Congress next year is to repeal McCain-Feingold IN ITS ENTIRETY.
b) Failing that, we must apply pressure to our state governments to recall their senators from Washington and strip them of their political office and their Senate credentials and appoint replacement senators to complete the remaining terms.
c) The FORMER senators (assuming they refuse to repeal McCain-Feingold) should be placed on trial for treason, malfeasance, knowingly violating their oath of office and knowingly violating the Constitution.
d) The President, having signed a bill into law that he KNEW was flawed, is also guilty of treason, malfeasance, knowingly violating his oath of office and knowingly violating the Constitution. He should also be recalled from office and tried for these crimes.

ALL of these people played "pass-the-buck" politics. The senate, knowing that the bill was flawed, passed it anyway, assuming the President would veto it. The President passed the buck when he signed this flawed bill into law, assuming that the SC would strike down the unConstitutional portions of the bill. The SC has passed the same buck, leaving us - ALL of us, regardless of political affiliation - with a law that violates our Constitutional rights. Since the people we entrusted to "protect, defend and support" the Constitution of the United States have failed in their most important and sacred duty, it is up to us to take these issues in our own hands and ensure that the Constitution is restored as the rule of the land. As part of the ultimate corrections that we must demand to protect our freedoms, SC Justices can no longer be appointed for life but, instead for a 10-year term. They may be re-appointed to a second 10-year term only once; after that, they retire.

This is just a basic plan of action. We can flush it out as we move forward.

I submit that ideas are more important than party loyalty.

That is the sort of bravado stance that sounds sooo good, yet if followed would result in political disaster. Suppose all of us who usually vote Republican decided to withhold our vote unless the candidate agreed at least 95% with our personal positions, while the Dems (as they always do) rally around whomever emerges as their nominee???

I will repeat what I have said earlier on this subject:
Politics is the art of compromise. It is not Political Philosophy 100A. It is not Burger King, and you can't always have it your way.

I thank God every morning that Bush is in charge. I have done that since about October 2001.

If someone comes along that I believe will do a better job of protecting this great nation I will support him/her.

Until that happens, nothing will change my mind.

We can get angry at Bush stay home and let Dean win, or we can say yes Bush has screwed us, the base, over and over but Because of the fear of Dean winning vote for Bush.

I don't like it, but compromise is the essence of democracy. We live in a country with a sizeable number people who don't share our opinions. We can try to convince them that we are right, but until we are successful, I'd rather have 50% of what I want than 100% of what I don't.

The long run solution is to repeal the 17th amendment and go back to appointing the senators through our state legislatures. Might be a good idea to add a recall feature though.

I think this nasty piece of work was done whilst the Dims ran the Senate. I feel like this is one of those few mis steps the President has made, but it is clear tha twe cannot afford to let the Dims win the WH nor the Senate.
As much as I'd love to see a perfect world, it just won't be. No Libertarian candidate is going to anything but a spoiler .like in Washington state.

Whatever else, O'Conner will retire soon,and it's rumoured so will Ruth Buzzi , due to health reasons, Let's NOT let the Dims have sway ..
