Homosexual Activists Sue Spanish Cardinal Over Homily

Madrid, Jan. 8 (LifesiteNews.com/CWN) - The Spanish homosexual activist group Popular Gay Platform has launched a lawsuit against Cardinal Antonio Maria Rouco Varela of Madrid for a homily he gave in his cathedral on the Sunday after Christmas-- the feast of the Holy Family.

In his homily the cardinal explained that to provide the benefits of marriage to "all types of unions, including those by nature unable to have children, will result in the systematic destruction of the social security system." He said social security is best served by "the fecund love of the Christian family."

The cardinal asked, "How many large families have experienced criticism from the very same people who will depend in their time of sickness and old age on the generous contributions of the children of these families to the social security system?"

The president of the homosexual activist group claimed the cardinal's remarks constitute "slander and an incitement to discrimination" on the basis of sexual orientation.

Spain is in the midst of a low birth-rate crisis with one of the lowest birth rates in the world at 1.2 children per woman. Even conservative estimates by the United Nations show that Spain's population will decrease 9.4 million by 2050 and will have a massive burden of elderly to support without a sufficient base of workers. Projections see the over-65 age group in Spain rising to 35 percent in the next 50 years.

I'm not Catholic but homosexuality is wrong and so is molestation of children. This NEEDS to be shunned and punished.

It will be interesting to watch what the homosexual lobby does as Muslims become more powerful in Spain. If they sue a Muslim leader they may find their offices car bombed.

I guess even the Inquisition had its positive points. They could use it here - just for a few months to scour out the homosexual scum, then dissolve it automatically when the last sodmoite is rooted out. On the other hand, they could contract out with other governments to free them from the rise in three dollar bills.

Here comes "hatespeech" - to a theater near you. Remember how some of the SCOTUS justices said they have to refer to the laws and cultures of other countries when figuring out the Constitution?

No, it was not the only problem - Rouco Varela is extremely orthodox, and gave a very good homily on the subject. But what the gay group is suing him for specifically are his remarks about social security and state benefits.

BTW, what do you mean when you say there's no religious freedom in Spain? There certainly was when I was there two weeks ago...

In Canada, along with Spain, you can be prosecuted for preaching the Bible as in this case. I guess it can also be described as lack of free speech too. In New Jersey I believe, similar actions are possible if you preach the Truth when it comes to homosexuality.
