Angry White Man (For black voters, Dean is the un-Clinton)
The Wall Street Journal ^ | Tuesday, January 13, 2004 | JASON L. RILEY

Unfortunate as it is true, Democrats don't battle Republicans for the black vote. They battle apathy. Blacks vote Democrat or stay home. Which prompts two questions: Will Howard Dean, the third-generation Yalie from Vermont by way of Park Avenue, have a problem ginning up enough black support if he wins the Democratic nomination for president?

Now if somebody could get the GOP leaders to realize this and tell them to quit pandering for the non exixtent black vote

More likely the other way around: Hill as the top candidate and Clark as the running mate.

It's always somewhat amusing when a racial provocateur like Charlie Rangel, who shouldn't be allowed to hold the office of dog-catcher, accuses Republicans of "stealing" the 2000 election. Not only is it a lie, but few care anymore other then nutty Dems and other hallucinators. But thank God most Dems live in the past. It's important to visit the past from time to time, but to dwell on it is morbid...and fatal to Dems I hope.

For a Democrat to win," says Al From of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, "he'll have to have a heavy black vote, but he also has to go beyond that because the black vote is only 10% of the total vote."

It may be only 10% of the total vote but it is at least 20% of the democrat vote

GOP better do something about the vote fraud in the heavy black districts in the big cities in PA MI ILL etc but of course they won't or can't

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I think people around here are getting a little too excited about Dean's collapse. We want him nominated, remember?

If the problem for Democrats is the lack of a center-left coalition a la Bill Clinton, Howard Dean is hardly the answer. "You can't win on anger," says Mr. From. "It's not a very good glue for a political party. If it disappears, there's nothing to hold you together."

Sounds like they're already stuck, poor urchins.

Man they have us so focused on Dean that we are missing the 600 lb pound gorilla in the room. One that will ultimately defeat Bush if we just focus on Dean. Clark will be the candidate with a possibility of Hillary as running mate.
You are so right. Clark is the real threat. Dean is a decoy.

So are you voting because the Republicans are "pandering" or are you voting because you believe in individual freedoms and smaller government, (which is what the GOP used to stand for)? I would guess it's the latter. I agree to stop pandering to a voting block that you're never going to get. Let the message out and let the chips fall where they may.
