Is Canada the canary in the coal mine for America circa 2010?

Vancouver, BC is Amsterdam West, the marijuana, drug and prostitution capital of North America. They grow so much dope indoors you can smell it walking down the street.

Canada, unlike the US (which fought for its freedom, and still continues to fight for the freedom of people around the planet), does not have a tradition of free speech as we understand it. When you wait for the colonial power to just get sick of the weather and leave of its own accord, you get a government and a society that works too hard on being polite, and not hard enough on being free.

I was born in Canada, adopted by US parents, and my first childhood memory is a Federal judge handing me a 48-star US flag when I was three and a half years old, on the day I was gifted US citizenship. To this day, it is one of the proudest days of my life.

Good for you hunter, I was talking with a guy from Texas who was up here on holidays, his comment was (in a southern drawl) " Yep, what y'all need up here is a good assassination , keeps them politicians on their toes"
LOL

Reminds me of Thomas Jefferson's comment about the tree of liberty needing frequent watering from the blood of tyrants.

homosexual activist Dr. Simon Levay has often been used to support the idea that homosexuality is...

Scripter, is there an article or paper somewhere that has his quote, I think this would be a good one to have in my library.

The teachers said they were disturbed by Kempling's statements that homosexual relationships are unstable, 'gay' sex poses health risks and many religions consider homosexuality immoral.

These aren't just opinions, they're facts.

It's ridiculous this man is being pilloried for stating facts that the "teachers" are unwilling to face. Apparently the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth.

I truly believe this hyper-sensitivity comes from the fact that deep down inside, they know there is something very wrong with homosexuality and worse yet sense the dead end future it promises for them.

You and me both. And you don't have to be a believer, either. Given only earthly considerations, it's a loser's lifestyle.

Which is why they're so shrill in trying to force acceptance (if not "celebration") on everyone else.

It's just Canada. When push comes to shove, they have no rights in Canuckastan. A few miles further south and this guy wouldn't have had anywhere near as many problems for the piece.

In Beautiful British Columbia, they shuffle child-molesting teachers off to another district, but have an un-PC opinion, and you're busted!

The fruit of socialism is death.

Scripter, is there an article or paper somewhere that has his quote, I think this would be a good one to have in my library.

I first read the quote here: The Innate-Immutable Argument Finds No Basis in Science but they don't list the source.

I eventually found the quote in a Discover Magazine article by David Nimmons (March, 1994) "Sex and the Brain", Discover, Vol. 15, No. 3, p. 64-71. Nimmons interviewed Levay with the quote found on page 66. While I don't have a copy of this particular Discover issue, I do have a copy of the article purchased online.

For the others I've pinged here, you may find this source invaluable. I'll try to remember to put this in the categorical index thread. Here's the paragraph surrounding the quote:

[His 1991 research] made the unassuming LeVay one of the most misunderstood men in America. "It's important to stress what I didn't find," he points out with the courtly patience of someone who long ago got used to waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. "I did not prove that homosexuality is genetic, or find a genetic cause for being gay. I didn't show that gay men are 'born that way,' the most common mistake people make in interpreting my work. Nor did I locate a gay center in the brain--INAH3 is less likely to be the sole gay nucleus of the brain than part of a chain of nuclei engaged in men and women's sexual behavior. My work is just a hint in that direction--a spur, I hope, to future work."
And still 10 years later no support for a gay gene has been found. All the evidence points to environment as the major factor in determining homosexuality.
