Mad money: Fury helps fund Kerry's effort

Democrats apparently figure that the madder you are at President Bush, the more you're going to be willing to pay to beat him.

That seems to be the strategy behind a Minneapolis fundraiser for John Kerry that's basing its ticket prices on whether you are angry, livid, or mad as hell about the direction of the country.

As seen at Power Line. In fact, here's their post (since the Star Tribune requires excerpting--and registering to read):

On Friday, we pointed out that an upcoming "Cabaret for Kerry" fundraiser categorized its ticket prices as follows:
TROUBLED: $50+

ANGRY: $100+

LIVID: $200+

FURIOUS: $400+

MAD AS HELL: $500+

BALLISTIC: $1000+
We concluded:
Democrats seem to think it is a good idea to present themselves to the public as the party that has gone nuts...But I seriously doubt that a party that defines itself by hate and anger can command the support of a majority of Americans.

Saturday morning, the Minneapolis Star Tribune followed up on our story in an article titled "Mad money: Fury helps fund Kerry's effort." The Strib credited us with coming up with the story:

A conservative political Web log, Powerline, posted the group's ticket categories Friday and opined that it was doubtful "a party that defines itself by hate and anger can command the support of a majority of Americans."

A Democratic activist involved in the fundraiser responded that "We just decided we wanted to do something a little bit funny." We were pleased to read that no one was "ballistic" enough to give Kerry $1,000.

If the Strib keeps reading Power Line, its readers will no doubt be better informed.

When you have no program other than the usual screwball leftist nostrums, I guess you have to use emotion to try to rally the troops. The Dems are without any direction and simply react emotionally to whatever Bush throws at them. The libs "vision" for America is one that is at odds with the great majority of Americans... Dem or Republican. A party that is racing leftwards to be a pacifist, wealth-confiscating, progress-hating, sex with animals melange of nanny-stater killjoys will not prove popular with the public once their real intentions are revealed.
