ACT Just Called Me

ACT (Americans Coming Together) just called me for a phone survey. ACT is the outfit that hired ex-cons to conduct door-to-door voter registration drives until their covers were pulled.

Anyway, this lady asked me who I was going to vote for, how strongly I felt about my choice, was there any chance in hell I would vote for Kerry, which national issue I thought was most pressing, etc. At the end of the conversation she thanked me and I told her to hold on, I had a question for her. I asked her if ACT was the organization that hired ex-cons to conduct voter registration drives. She got really indignant and said, "definitely not!". I said, "sure, sure,...I'm positive it was you guys! I read about it...."

CLICK.

She hung up on me.

Should have asked her if her parole officer knows where she is.

I always lie to surveys when I can discern that they're for a left-leaning purpose. If they surveyed me, Kerry'd think he should base his entire campaign on love of child pornography.

Just got calls from two pollsters in row. I don't know the name of the first one but the name you mentioned sounds familiar. Mine was a recording. Asked me to press 1 if I was voting for Kerry or 2 for Bush. I pushed 2. The second question was if you are voting for Kerry is it because of #1 his stance on blah, blah, blah or #2 to send a message against President Bush. Of course, I can't press anything and it just keeps repeating the same thing over and over. Finally it disconnected.

Then two seconds later I get a phone call from Larkin Research (on caller ID) to question me about the movies I've seen lately (past 2 months). I haven't seen any. Then they wanted to question any kids aged 7-11 that have seen any movies at the theater in the last 2 months--my 7 year old hasn't seen any either and he isn't here right now anyway. The guy seemed a little stunned that nobody here had been to a movie recently. Last one we saw was Finding Nemo.

I'd just remind them that voting is confidential and hang up.

Got a poll yesterday. They started by saying that many people "weren't able to vote in the 2000 election," by which I assumed they meant Native Americans because the Dems had switched Democratic voter fraud into a supposed disenfranchisement issue in South Dakota.

Then, they asked if I'd voted. Yes. They ask if I was registered as a Democrat or Republican. Republican. They ask if I'd voted for any Democrat in a national race in 2000. No. They asked how often I vote for Democrats (in any race) and I said "often," because Democrats locally are better on social and cultural issues than the local Country Club Republicans many times.

They asked how often I went to church and gave me a choice. They asked whether I listened to radio talk shows and named Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh as examples.

Then they said they would give me a list of people and wanted me to rank them (like strongly, dislike, dislike strongly, etc.)

They said "Tom Daschle." Dislike strongly.

As soon as I said that, they thanked me and then hung up.

I wondered who the other names on the list were supposed to be.

You shoulda said, "Oh like the military absentee votes that the Dems had thrown out in Florida??" That would have saved you a lot of time answering questions!!

You should file a sworn statemnt about this conversation with as much detail in it as you can to the Federal Election Commission--It is illegal for ACT ( a 527) to be politicing for a candidate. Help monitor their activities. Give your address, the time it occurred and as much identifying information as you can.
