I'm not sure where I stand with this. I sort of agree that if there are illegals here that are working, then why not give them a chance to become legal? Then again, does that punish those that follow the steps the right way? This amnesty is only for those that are currently working. I know the office where I work is cleaned by Mexicans every night. No one else wants to do that work. I assume that these guys are documented, but they are here to work and perform a service, why not let them become citizens. Only the ones that are employed of course.

They do the jobs that American's don't want to do...what's always left out is "at the wages employers want to pay". wonder what the response would be if employers offered 20/hr? Low wages mean no innovation, no automation, and the taxpayer gets to supplement the cheap wages with things like taxpayer funded health care.

At the wages they are paid they don't contribute enough tax dollars into the system to reach a break even point, this is the drain we keep hearing about.

A better solution might be to register them so we can keep track of them and either send them home when the work is done or have them take a number with all the other applicants for LEGAL citizenship.

Felon's shouldn't be rewarded.

The Rules Is The Rules.

Of COURSE those who obtained citizenship are not 'punished' by the illegals---

What actually happens is that the rule of law becomes shredded by this kind of crap.

If the Executive Branch is just going to ignore SOME laws, which ones will they ignore NEXT? And why can't I carry my .45 openly? Or drive at 40 MPH over the limit? Or screw the IRS?

You get the idea.

OK - I'm a Saudi-funded jihadist who sees that Congress is about to pass an "amnesty" bill (sorry, President Bush, that's what it is.) So I set up some kind of bogus "foundation" or school and bring in as many terrorist fellow-travelers as fast as I can buy the plane tickets. All my little droogs are "employees," none of them have green cards or any documentation (I just drive them in over the border - but unlike the coyotes, I'm considerate and my vans / trucks are air conditioned.)

My "employees" never show up for work and draw only a minimal paycheck, and do whatever else the gov't requires to obtain permanent residence in the US. Meanwhile, they run all over the US taking pictures, fooling around in the toilets of airplanes, whatever.

Is this smart? Is this worth a few Hispanic votes, which the president probably isn't going to get anyway?

How about hiring legal immigrants. The legals can then apply for citizenship.

What other lawbreakers do you think we should reward?

It appears as though you believe in rewarding foreigners who violate our laws. I don't agree with you on this, and the majority of Americans don't agree with you on this. By the way, are there any laws that you feel American citizens should be allowed to violate and then be rewarded for doing so?

So if they manage to sneak in and get a job that an American won't do (plumber, electrician, carpenter, etc.) it's home free for them. These people are costing us billions, commiting crime and ruining our culture. Americans have been brainwashed by the media and our politicians (both groups who won't lose their jobs to illegals) to accept this invasion. The weak DO NOT survive. These people are bacteria invading a host with the intent to take it over. I've visited Mexico several time AND I WENT BACK HOME.

I AM SO TIRED OF HEARING THAT MEXICANS WILL DO THE WORK NO ONE ELSE WILL.
1. That is a bigoted racist statement, equivalent to Black’s made good slaves because they could handle the working in the cotton fields.
2. This country is not a two tier system, for our Constitution says that all men are equal.
3. There is not one job illegals do that I have not done myself.
4. The truth is that Americans will do the jobs, just no for the pay that is offered.
5. Because of our legal system, employers want illegals for they will not sue for sexual harassment or some other BS reason. With illegals they can circumvent our employment rules and regulations.
6. A new study says that illegals work during the day and are Gang Members at night. Crime rates go through the roof where illegals live and work.
7. What part of illegal do you not understand? What part of Criminal Felon do you not agree with.
