U.S. blocking Arctic report
WASHINGTON - The Bush administration is trying to bury an international report that contains recommendations on the impact of global warming on the people of the Arctic, an Arctic leader told a Senate panel yesterday.
State Department officials are blocking the release of one of two reports that were to be presented to government ministers from eight Arctic nations at a meeting on Nov. 9 in Reykjavik, Iceland, Sheila Watt-Cloutier of northern Quebec in Canada told the Senate Commerce Committee. She is chairwoman of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference, representing native people.

The science report will still be presented, but the United States has succeeded in blocking the release of the policy report at the meeting and is attempting to bury its recommendations in a "bureaucratic" report that will be sent to the governments of the countries involved at a later date, Watt-Cloutier said.

The other nations participating in the climate assessment - Canada, Russia, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden - want the policy recommendations released, but are being overruled by the United States, Watt-Cloutier said.

"Buried"??
I prefer to think of it as "shoved" -- as in where the sun don't shine.
I knew it. They never think of Alaska and Alaska is part of the USA, so they don't count the USA as Arctic. But it is.
Arctic nations manufacture good opinions, but you have to assemble them yourself.
The worst thing that could happen to these "arctic" nations is that they'd have decent weather and the ability to grow crops.
Is "they" the Bush Administration or the State Department (or parts of both)? Not sure who you're referring to there.
A little puzzle like in Harry Potter.
Tell those dudes to chill, man.
I don't care if those Arctic Activists count Alaska as Arctic or not. The ground is frozen already this week and the forecast is snow and smoke tonight. Yeah, we're still on fire.

BTTT!!!!!!!
Snoke and smoke, huh? Just like last year and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before and the year before and ..........
What are the Eskimos going to do without snow and ice? Park their snowmobiles forever?
In only 85 years a 4,000 thick glacier (up to 20 miles wide)in Alaska retreated 45 miles. I think that global warming is pretty obvious.
Any guesses on when those 85 years were?
Snow is the usual. This is the first time there is also smoke with the snow. I should probably add 'In living memory.'
Well, their societies have changed quite a bit in modern times, but the change in climate might cause similar changes to the remaining indigenous culture that the loss of the huge buffalo herds did to the Plains Indian culture.
