Yes the other Balls in DC in 2000 were kinda boring.

That's why around 10 PM people from the other Balls started showing up at the FreeRepublic Save-The-Silverware Ball, let their hair down and loosened their ties and had a GRATE time!

Of course there were kids there then, and will be this time too. It is kind of like a family reunion if you like families!

The tin-foil hat crowd was there too...

Hey, Jim... I was away from the computer for a few days, but the planning continues for the best and most fun Inaugural Ball in town (the FR W2 Ball, of course).

Everyone, be on the lookout for more Ball updates as time draws closer to Inauguration Day, but hurry up and get you tickets ASAP! Other conservative groups are beginning to hear about our W2 Ball and you don't want to lose out on the chance to get tickets for yourselves.

The decision is an easy one...

Do I want to:
a) buy a ticket to an "Official" Ball, and spend the evening packed like a sardine in a massive venue with xx-thousand other people, waiting in interminably long CASH BAR lines to buy drinks for $8-10 a pop, and searching for a dish of pretzels or peanuts to snack on...

b) Buy an ALL-INCLUSIVE ticket to the Free Republic W2 Ball, where I can choose from a complete dinner and dessert menu (I'll post the delicious menu again, later), four and a half hour OPEN BAR, and dancing into the night to the rock 'n roll sounds provided by Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and the Capitol Offense band!

c) Stay home and miss celebrating the night with Freeper friends from across the country.

The Ballroom that Jim and the Ball organizing team have selected is big and beautiful, with plenty of room to dance the night away; the second ballroom - set up with tables for comfortable dining - is also beautiful and roomy enough for those of you who want to sit and rest and visit with long-distance friends; and the kids party room will be able to comfortably accomodate the young party-set. And for the smokers among us, the roomy hotel bar area is available to us, with plenty of seating areas there, as well.

So, don't dawdle too long; time's awasting, ticket sales are moving right along and we don't want anyone to miss out on the chance to come to the W2 ball.

Thanks for the ping. I enjoyed election eve and seeing the leftists in this country disappointed. I am truly glad John Kerry is not going to be appointing judges in this country... but I've got to respectively pass on the Ball.

"can't you move the ball to the Bagdadh Hilton???"

Thank you for serving my good friend. I didn't know you got called up. We all really did have fun helping Bush get re-elected.

You Sir, were a BIG part of that.

Jim, please let me know when you receive my check. I mailed it out BEFORE Christmas and am a little concerned now.

Ok, will do. The mail is probably behind schedule because of the Christmas rush. Amy will probably be picking up at the PO Box again sometime in the next two or three days. Will let you know as soon as we receive it.
Thanks

You shame me Takoma. Mrs. Jimfree wants to attend an official ball. We are going through the MD GOP toward that end. $8-$10 drinks in the cash bar? Really? Bummer.

Bar drinks at these events are pricey, and $8-10 per is pretty standard around these parts. I don't usually drink alcoholic beverages, and at cash bar events in DC I have to pay $4-5 for a Diet Coke.

Having an open bar is costly, too - but it makes things much more convenient and hospitable to the guests at an event.

P.S. I don't mean to discourage you about an "Official Ball," but most media write-ups of the official balls tend to read like this one from 2001.

And then for comparison, you can read this Reason Magazine write-up of the first FR Ball.

Thanks for the photos. The food , band and open bar sounds great. My husband does not like to go out. I am concerned about spending $ 175 to attend an event where I do not know anyone personally. I do live locally. Freepers, should I go?
