Washington D.C. Rocked by Arkansas Governor Huckabee and FreeRepublic.com!

(FR) Washington, D.C., one week from today--Arkansas Rockin' Governor Mike Huckabee and his band, Capitol Offense, together with hundreds of bebopping FReepers to descend on our nation's capitol on Thursday, January 20, 2005, a date that shall live in infamy.

The Free Republic Inaugural Ball and "Count the White House Silverware Party" was the "hottest" inaugural ball in town in 2001! The 2005 Free Republic W2 Inaugural Ball promises to be a repeat performance!

Governor Huckabee and "Dubya" Rock D.C. at the 2001 FReeper Ball!

Besides the 2001 Free Republic Inaugural Ball, Governor Huckabee and his Capitol Offense band have played for Willie Nelson, .38 Special, Grand Funk Railroad, Percy Sledge and many others.

In a recent email message to Kristinn Taylor, co-leader of the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, Governor Huckabee writes, "The band and I are truly thrilled to be playing for the Freeper Ball next week--we're hoping to rock the house!"

Governor Huckabee is said to be a presidential hopeful in 2008.

Taylor says the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic is also sponsoring a counter protest along the inaugural parade route on Thursday afternoon. They are countering a planned protest by the International ANSWER anti-war group.

Taylor and the D.C. Chapter are also planning a dinner on Wednesday night for the FReepers and Free Republic Ball attendees. Watch for the announcement to be posted later tonight to Free Republic.

The Free Republic W2 Inaugural Ball, which will celebrate the reelection of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, as well as honor our men and women serving in the Armed Forces, will be held at the Washington Plaza Hotel from 7 p.m. to Midnight.

You won't want to miss this one!!

Admission includes dinner, dancing and open bar!

Gov. Mike Huckabee's state-of-the-state address

Here was my favorite part -

Most teams have some folks on that team who strive for excellence and focus on a championship. But I think all of us understand that on every team there are also a few folks who could best be described as, well, towel poppers - people who judge their success not by their performance on the field but by their personality behind the scenes in the locker room, by the laughter in the locker room and the postgame parties. And, frankly, when the towel poppers outnumber the champions, the team usually loses. But when the champions outnumber the towel poppers, the team wins. We need to pledge to each other, we need to pledge to the citizens and we need to pledge in a sacred pledge to God that we will take on the task of the next 60-plus days like a team committed to a championship; that we will be committed, as coaches used to say, to taking care of business and not just towel popping in the locker room.

Great quote: KISS' Gene Simmons on why he voted for President Bush (my title)

HOLLYWOOD (Reuters) - "In time of war, if you go through a bad neighborhood, I don't want a little French poodle, I want a rottweiler on my hands." -- Gene Simmons

Equipment manager for the Philadelphia Eagles:

I detest "towel poppers."

(Donovan McNabb pops towel across equipment manager's backside, causing him to have a nervous breakdown.)
