A Matter of Life or Death - (Florida POW/MIA attorney activist writes on Terri's death)
CHRONWATCH.COM ^ | APRIL 1, 2005 | ARNOLD BEIZER

The death of Terri Schiavo has taught us some tough lessons about the matter of life and death and about the proponents on both sides of this issue. Pro-life and pro-choice (right to die) advocates hooked up in a battle for the ages. While they set their feet in cement in this war of good and evil, they succeeded only in cementing the fate of the only powerless person in this entire sordid affair, namely, Terri Schiavo.

Terri, was given a pair of cement shoes and was sent off to wear them in a better place where she would no longer be a "burden on Society" or take up valuable space that others in the "Community" might better utilize according to left wing, right to die zealots.

Terri Schiavo had no say in this matter whatsoever, except by proxy cast by her "loving husband" who fought tirelessly and endlessly on her behalf to grant her alleged special request, i.e., to put and end to Terri's life and to grant her the right to die under the special circumstances which were apparently prevalent. Or were they? This was despite the fact that Terri's wishes were in dispute and were always in doubt ab initio. She had never expressed them in writing and certainly not in any legal document. Evidently, this "minor" ambiguity in Terri's intentions did not give dear Judge Greer much of a problem or present any moral dilemma for him. He repeatedly ruled from his bench (bully pulpit) that Michael Schiavo spoke for Terri. Judge George Greer took Michael at his word and left Terri without any legal representation of her own, knowing full well that Terri was unable to speak for herself. This effectively left Terri with no power to fight for her own life. Judge Greer had the last word since Terri could not utter a word leaving Terri's husband with the last laugh as they removed Terri's feeding tube, speeding up a fate worse than death...death by starvation and deprivation (dehydration).

This was most assuredly a depraved way to die and contrary to the way it was represented by her husband and his radical "off" Terri supporters who wanted Terri taken off life support at any cost (to save further suffering and expense it must be presumed)! The actions of this coalition for death signaled exactly what it stands for: HYPOCRISY! While the advocates for the right to die argued that a handicapped person who could not feed herself ought to be put out of her misery and be allowed to die a dignified and "peaceful" death (restful, permanent sleep) this has led to a rude awakening for many of us who are concerned about the right to Life and who must wonder why this same die hard coalition also advocates out of the other side of its mouth, to wit:

SAVE THE WHALE, SAVE THE SNAIL, SAVE THE MANATEE, SAVE THE FLORIDA PANTHER, SAVE THE DOLPHINS, SAVE THE EVERGLADES, SAVE THE ALLIGATOR SAVE THE RAINFOREST, SAVE THE OZONE LAYER, SAVE THE ALASKAN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY (from oil exploration), SAVE THE SPOTTED OWL....while at the same time turning their backs on TERRI SCHIAVO, ONE OF OUR OWN ENDANGERED SPECIES!!!

IT IS QUITE APPARENT THAT THIS POSITION IS FOR THE BIRDS!

We The People must ask ourselves, how could the life of a beautiful, living, valuable and viable human being have been allowed to be so easily and hastily snuffed out by a judicial system on a power trip and by judges out of control, without any accountability to the Congress, to the Executive branch of government or to the People?

The answer boils down to moral values and politics. The Activist Judiciary in America today is not concerned about values or weighing the facts and evidence on an honest scale of justice, but rather more and more judges are weighing in with their own biased opinions, colored by their political affiliations and their personal social agendas. The overriding concern of some Judges in this day and age is cow towing to the party line to the detriment of the Law and the American People from which all source of power ought to derive.

The lesson of Terri Schiavo's suffering and sacrifice is that concerned Americans must take back the power usurped by the Judiciary by telling off the judges, by voting them off the courts and by urging the passage of good moral laws which are derived from THE CONSTITUTION which is itself inspired by GOD and the TEN COMMANDMENTS. These are an abomination to those who deny GOD but a blessing from those who founded our nation...ONE NATION UNDER GOD INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL INCLUDING TERRI SCHIAVO TO WHOM WE ARE ALL INDEBTED FOR HER TRIALS AND TRIBULATONS.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

MAY GOD BLESS!

How's this for liberal claptrap? I just saw it. Utterly infuriating, but it will show you how bloodless, careless..........and I mean CARE - LESS.....the liberal media machine is. While Terri was fighting for her life, this is what liberal pundits were writing!

Frist and DeLay's trap has another catch

(3/24/2005)

By Joseph Dolman, Newsday

At the moment, Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas and Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee must feel like geniuses. The Republican brain-trust has managed to trot out a weapon in the culture wars that leaves the sad-sack Democrats thoroughly baffled. While half of me admires the creative deviousness of the trick, the other half is repulsed.

By daring to play tug-of-war with Terri Schiavo's feeding tube, the GOP has promised to turn life into a living hell for some of the more thoughtful Democrats on the planet.

The Democrats' mission now is to find an effective way to fight back - before they get caught in new and still more outrageous traps. For all the evil genius of Frist and DeLay, I think there might be a way ultimately to beat their cynical tactics.

That's because Congress' escapade last weekend will prove disastrous.

Never mind that the GOP now appears to endorse as a matter of policy government meddling in a family's private matters. And never mind the wacky spectacle of our whole elected government hurrying back to Washington to vote on a much-litigated medical issue that affects one - and only one - unfortunate Florida woman.

At bottom this episode was about something else. It was a sop to the religious right. It was meant to showcase the awe that Republicans supposedly harbor deep within their hearts for a "culture of life."

The congressional maneuver left Democrats with one of two choices. They could go along with the show like a roomful of sullen hostages. (Almost half of them did just that when the House voted early Monday morning.) Or they could take the route of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) and inveigh with eloquence (and futility) against Congress' intrusion into Schiavo's case.

There's just one catch here. It just so happens that Nadler represents Manhattan's Upper West Side - a swath of ancient liberalism that has somehow survived the ruins of time like the contents of Tutankhamen's tomb. No 2006 challenger is likely to make Nadler explain why he voted for a "culture of death" over a "culture of life."

But other Democrats who voted against DeLay and Frist won't be so lucky. As Frist and DeLay well know, the complex answers to questions like this are impossible to address in a sound bite. All their guy has to do is say that he's for life while the other guy must fight his way out of a swamp: What is life? What is death? When is it right to pull out feeding tubes? Long story short: Gotcha! At least that's one story.

I think it's also possible that Frist and DeLay have seriously misread their Red State base. For one thing, the pollsters and political scientists I know say the Schiavo case is unusual. Even in the South, voters could ultimately resent the intrusion of zealots into family affairs.

"The issue is a risky one," says Utica-based pollster John Zogby. "Who emerges the winner?" Just seeing the matter debated makes most people cringe. And though the Schiavo case might rev the religious right into spasms of political fervor, I can't imagine it creating waves of excitement beyond that.

I base this notion in part on personal experience. I grew up in the piney woods of East Texas - where the political conservatism runs about as deep as the red-clay soil.

Yet in the Jacksonville Daily Progress of Cherokee County, my former home, last Sunday is an editorial that lambastes the Congress for the Schiavo mess.

"Government has no business legislating the relationship between a husband and wife," wrote managing editor Larry Krantz in an unsigned piece. He went on to say that the "right to death with dignity is something everyone should be afforded when that time comes. If anything, the state should protect that right, rather than forcing a family to stay in the present when it's clearly time for her husband and the families involved to move on."
Oh, yeah. There's also an ABC poll, out Monday, that shows Americans support the removal of Schiavo's feeding tube by a margin of 63 percent to 28 percent. Bottom line: I know it's tough, Democrats. But come out of your bunkers. You haven't lost this one yet.

"Government has no business legislating the relationship between a husband and wife,"

How anyone can claim Michael's relationship with Terri after 1993 was that of 'husband and life' rather than 'owner' and 'slave' is beyond me.

Here is a stunning article by Ilana Mercer. It is worth reading it in its entirety. She doesn't mince words. What a fine article this one is!

http://www.ilanamercer.com/As%20She%20Lay%20Dying%20WND.htm

Excerpt:

”If the case of poor Terry Schiavo has taught me anything it is how utterly loathsome liberals are. In their ever-so “progressive” zeal for euthanasia, they’ve discovered principles for which they’ve hitherto had nothing but contempt. In the liberal vernacular, States’ Rights are synonyms for discrimination, that is, until Ms. Schiavo. Now Democrats shriek louder than Dixiecrats ever did that the intervention by a federal court in a so-called state (or personal) matter undermines this “cherished” principle. (So they know about the 10th Amendment?)

The only kind of marriage liberals had ever glorified is the gay kind. But thanks to Michael Schiavo, the sanctity of marriage is fast becoming a liberal sacrament, with the proviso it has to involve “mercy killing.” It took Michael Schiavo’s devoted efforts to starve and dehydrate his wife to restore liberal faith in the institution. As we know, liberals, inexplicably, have insisted over and over again that Terry Schiavo’s husband is his helpless wife’s sole and indisputable guardian. Furthermore, to liberals, males have always been the guilty party in just about any heterosexual interaction. Michael’s monstrous single-mindedness has changed all that.

“We are a nation of laws” is the latest—not last—in liberal two-facedness. The law, after “due process,” has sentenced Ms. Schiavo to death, therefore die she must. Illegal aliens are trampling the rule of law and States’ Rights as we speak. Show me a Democrat who’ll support the right of State residents to refuse to teach or medically treat these lawbreakers.

Consider the liberals’ “let nature take its course” chant. They generally believe “nature,” the animal kingdom in particular, is the appropriate metaphor for civilization. It would apparently do humans a whole lot of good to imbibe even more animal “ethics” than we already practice.

What distinguishes civilized beings from animals, primitive societies, and liberals is that they don’t see nature as an exemplar of all that is fine and good. To the contrary: the civilized don’t abandon the burdensome or the enfeebled to nature. When some of us do, others will always strive to rescue them.

The tragedy of Terry is a testament to how irreconcilable certain liberal leanings are with civilization itself.”

Marxism at its worse!

See this:

we're spending a million dollars a year to keep a vicious child molester alive on life support in Folsom Prison!!!

The Left is very selective on who they chose to support and who they want to pull the plug on!

Well Ernest... I gotta go watch Letterman to see how many tastless sick jokes he makes outta this hideous two week snuffing of an innocent American Citizen in FL by our injudicious judicial system that sucks canal water the way it's currently constituted!!!

I feel my nation has been besmirched again, just like it was in Waco and freedom humiliated like it was with Alian Gonzales after his mom died to give him the gift of freedom!!!

I want my "Government of Laws, rather than of Men," back in place!!! I'm not happy with this tweaking and torquing of great American principles and traditions!!!
