Legal Expert-Blanco was legally in charge of Disaster Relief
Fox News | Sat 9-10-05 | ME

Posted on 09/10/2005 6:27:25 AM PDT by MNJohnnie

Just watched a legal expert on Fox go thru the disaster event by event. Based on the Law Gov Blanco is legally liable. If lawsuits are filed, there is no way she can duck it. In addition, when Bush went went down there, he offered her immediate deployment of Reg Army troops, she told both him and Nagel that she "needed 24 hours" to decide. This is DC politics. As everyone from Bush to Clinton to Carter learned, Washington Politics are a whole lot tougher then local politics. Blanco is toast. EVEN if the National Dems get the "Independent Commission" there is no way to rescue her based on the Law. I suspect that is why Mayor Nagel has been so quiet. He found out last Fri just who was holding the knife in his back, and it wasn't Bush

She should be tarred and feathered and run out of town AFTER all HER assets are distributed to the survivors of those who died.

Nagin should be prosecuted as well. Those were HIS buses sitting there. That was HIS plan to fill the Superdome, yet HE didn't stock it with food or water for four days.
THESE are HIS people. HE should face the death penalty.

Yeah - I was watching that, and he went through the entire timeline from Bush's declaring a national emergency on the 27th (two days before the storm hit) to the Governors meeting with him on AF-1 and telling him to give her 24 hours before sending additional federal help.

I tried to take notes, but the gentleman was talking so fast. I got some of it. I was wondering if anyone might have an accurate timeline that they could post here for other FReepers to copy.

Blanco will get lesser fines and sentence than Sandy Burgler got. Dems will cover her.

From what I've seen that's a lot of ASSets to be distributed.

New Orleans and Louisiana aren't third world, but fourth world.

CANCUN, Mexico - A massive evacuation of tourists in one of the world's largest resorts began Sunday, as hundreds of buses were dispatched to move tens of thousands of tourists away from Hurricane Emily, heading toward a direct hit on the coast. The very size of the task was daunting: about 500 buses were ordered to move 30,000 tourists in Cancun — part of a total of 70,000 to 80,000 mostly foreign tourists to be evacuated statewide to temporary shelters in ballrooms and convention centers.

I think the difference is that Nagin was just incompetent (not a rare thing among pols) and Blanco was unabashedly obstructionist. It's one thing to be too dumb to know what to do and another to wilfully refuse to do what you are supposed to do.

When you say "legally liable" do you mean civil or criminal? I ask, because I don't think the so-called legal expert on Fox knows what he or she is talking about.

I think Nagin got the message after he made his now infamous radio address and Bush had a private meeting with him afterward. I'd have loved to have been a fly on that wall. Bush probably told him that his "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die" philosophy has come full circle. Guess what, Nagin--it's "tomorrow".

I agree. She will probably not even be rebuked by the dims. After all, it would not look good for a woman Dim in charge to have failed so miserably just prior to Hitlery making her run for the White House.

Oh yes there is. Their names are Hillary Clinton and Mary Landrieu.

She was last seen speeding down the highway towards Mexico in a white Bronco with $10K in cash and a fake beard. Reports that Nagin was driving.
