MIDI - DO YOU HEAR THE PEOPLE SING - scroll down the site for the MIDI
Can you hear the FReepers sing
We lift our voices to the sky
And we are swearing to our God
That we will all live free or die
Many brave men gave their lives
So that this nation could be free
If we will stand and fight
We honor their memory
England ruled from afar until the brave among them said
We won't accept the tyranny, we'll show them kings are dead
So they grabbed their weapons and fought and America's born
Can you hear the FReepers sing
We lift our voices to the sky
And we are swearing to our God
That we will all live free or die
Many brave men gave their lives
So that this nation could be free
If we will stand and fight
We honor their memory
In more recent times some tyrants had sworn they would rule the world
But the strong stood up and fought and with the stars and stripes unfurled
Defeated the Nazis and fascists and communists too
Can you hear the FReepers sing
We lift our voices to the sky
And we are swearing to our God
That we will all live free or die
Many brave men gave their lives
So that this nation could be free
If we will stand and fight
We honor their memory
Can you hear the FReepers sing
We lift our voices to the sky
And we are swearing to our God
That we will all live free or die
Many brave men gave their lives
So that this nation could be free
If we will stand and fight
We honor their memory
Yep, it is not a typo. I brought back the FREEPER ANTHEM for No. 50,000. Like many of the early FReepers, in about April or May of 1997 I saw a link for "Whitewater Files" on the new Drudge Report. I clicked on it. It was like political crack cocaine -- instantly addicting. As I recall, I had written some CAMP GRENADA songs and a few others when a FReeper requested a FReeper Anthem. This one was born.
The history books will indeed chronicle the contributions of FreeRepublic to the political discourse. The March on Washington (which I unfortunately couldn't attend), "Get out of Cheney's house" and the 2000 Recount, and the takedown of Dan Rather are there for the historical record.
At first glance, 50,000 may seem like an insane amount, but it averages about 16 a day. That's not difficult.
We've been through some incredible discussions and some flame wars, to be sure. It has been a great joy and an honor to meet so many good and decent people both in cyberspace and in person.
Through good and bad times, I've been in the fight for conservative values. Politics, however, is the art of the possible. Unfortunately, we don't always get everything we want, and we don't have a candidate who believes all of what we believe. Please remember that "compassionate conservative" is something we need to live every day and practice in our communities. If we don't, the other side will have a legitimate claim that the government needs to be involved. We really are here to help our fellow man.
Every day I thank God and wonder what I did to deserve being born in this great nation. Why was I so lucky? I'm sure that many of you do the same.
And now, back to fighting the forces of evil. Kennedy, you disgusting, bloated, killer lifeguard. Dubin, STFU about torture. And Hillary, your evil presence cannot ever be allowed back into our White House.
Words to live by, Doug.
Congratulations, and keep up the good fight!
BTTT
Well, I just checked and No. 1 does not get registered as a reply. This one is 50,000.
Off to Kiwanis.
Click on your "pings." Then go to the top right of the screen and click on "More."
50,000 replies? Wow!
You could publish "doug from upland; Volumes 1-15"
Keep on truckin'
I like it but the Libertarians might not.
"50,000 may seem like an insane amount, but it averages about 16 a day"
I'm on track and approaching 20,000 :~ )
Congratulations!
I'm only at 9220 posts, in 7 years.
I bow to your posting prowess.
Way to go Doug!

How do you find out how many replies you have had?
Nevermind this child of posting (4000+) has found his and is humbled at yours.
And I don't like the Libertarians isolationist vision of America.
LOL
