JIM LEHRER: You made a speech earlier this week where you said the news media should reassess the way it covers Iraq. What do you mean?

DONALD RUMSFELD: Oh, I think that it's -- if you look where the news media is, it's down very low at the polls. If you want to get into public opinion polls, people in that business are right down near the bottom.

JIM LEHRER: Tell me about it.

DONALD RUMSFELD: You know that. Yeah, does it bother you?

JIM LEHRER: (laughter) Hey, I ask the questions here!

This doesn't look like a smackdown to me; this particular exchange seems pretty friendly.

DONALD RUMSFELD: Jim, you're a fool.

JIM LEHRER: Yep.

And we're up against an enemy that understands that they can't win anything in Iraq. They cannot win a battle. The only place they can win is in Washington, D.C. And they know that. And they have media committees

Howard Dean and the Alphabet Channels!

Does anyone know Rummy's email? I want to congrat him on the Bitch-Slap and wish him a Merry X-mas. Put him in a wig and he could be a Founding Father.

It is an aspect of war. But they can't win the war over there. The only place they can win it is in Washington, D.C. And they know that. And they are working it; and they are working it skillfully. And they lie.

Is he talking about the terrorists, the Traitors or PravdABDNC??

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters

This man will go down as one of the military legends among troops who stay in the military for a long time to come. The name Rummy will be spoken with adoration and laughter. I can't think of a single politician who handles the press quite the way Rummy does. And he smacks them in the face with a smile. I love that man.

"we led our program tonight in the News Summary with a story about the 34 Iraqis who were killed in a car bombing on a bus in downtown Baghdad."

When Saddam was exporting terroism to Israel each day, every day with vests and money for suicide bombers, was that the story of the day of Jim Lehrer?

When Israelies were being blown up weekly, daily, was that the story???? NO! Oh, No! But now, oh wait, Iraqis are being blown up. Fewer Iraquis are dying daily now than when Saddam was in power!

Jim Lehrer is a communist b$#$***! I do not want my tax $$ supporting this #$%$#%#.

Sorry, but in this friendly exchange, we all hear "I'm the Secretary of Defense, and you're a punk-a$$ journalist, and journalist have no credibility"

That's because you are looking at it like it was a discussion.

You have to think of it as a sword-fight. Both sides know all the moves, dodges, and attacks, but it's how you orchestrate them that determines the winner.

It's like a chess player saying he got his ass handed to him.

Lehrer (means "student" in German - ha! He hasn't learned a thing.) never asked any questions outside the subversive socialist template that the liberal hive adheres to.

I'm just glad that we have a SecDef the caliber of Rumsfeld. He is confident enough in what he is doing that he can answer without crawfishing.

Very reassuring having his calm hand on the throttles.

"...it's an academician who said the situation in Iraq is terrible, just terrible. And it's never been better...."

How good is that ?

Barry Young w/ KFYI in Phoenix had John Kyl on this a.m. He read a quote stating that eventually the U.S. would pull out and declare a victory. It sounded just like either Kerry or Dean. It was a quote from Zawahiri. Tell me the Islamists are not listening to our media. Tell me some of our soldiers haven't lost their lives due to Democrat rhetoric. They literally sound one and the same.
