I just heard on the news that Mrs. Coretta King has died. Just my personal opinion, but she was a dignified, classy woman who served her country and her late husband's memory quite well.

She had recently had a stroke, I believe... her health wasn't that well.

An Alabama native, Coretta Scott King met her future husband, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., while they were young college students in Boston. She was doing post-graduate concert voice studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. He was working on a doctorate in theology at Boston University.

They married June 18, 1953. A year later, King landed a job as pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in then-segregated Montgomery, Ala. During those days, Mrs. King performed the many functions expected of a pastor's wife and devoted herself to rearing the couple's four children.

Condolances to anyone affected by corettas death...

Does this mean that the copyright will be removed from the 'i have a dream' speech so that school children can speak the words without fear of being charged a fee.

Devoted to her husband and the original noble cause. She lived and endured a life that few could withstand, and did so with honor and dignity.

May God have mercy on her soul, and solace to her family.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. King back in 1977. She, unlike her handlers, was gracious, dignified and kind. She treated me with the same respect regardless of the color of my skin. Her handlers tried to intimitate me on the way to the church in Harlem.

Is that for real?

Not only was she a class act, but she kept in check some of the elements of the family that don't hold to King's 'Dream'. Wonder what those elements will do now that she's gone.
