Response to imigration letter
Congressman Sam Farr

Posted on 04/23/2006 9:19:58 AM PDT by Technoman

Dear (Technogeek):

Thank you for writing me about immigration. I understand that this is an issue that evokes very strong reactions.

Even before the protests over the last several weeks, the need for comprehensive immigration reform was unmistakable. Over 12 million undocumented immigrants reportedly live in the U.S. Most are here for a better life; they pay taxes and they perform low-paid, unskilled jobs few Americans desire or seek. By forcing these hardworking individuals to remain in the shadows, we risk creating an environment where a minority criminal element can operate unchecked. This situation only threatens our national security and complicates the vital job of those charged with protecting our homeland.

Since his first years in office, President Bush made the implementation of a guestworker program a priority for his Presidency. Unfortunately after 9/11, his immigration reform agenda was pushed to the side. Finally, in the last several months, the Republican Leadership has brought the issue to the forefront of national policy making.

Last December, the House Republican Leadership brought a truly egregious bill to the Floor for a vote. HR 4437 was completely unrealistic in its "enforcement only" proposals. It would make not only anyone in the country illegally a felon, but it also criminalizes humanitarian aid and religious workers as well. It proposed a wall reminiscent of the infamous Berlin Wall along our border with Mexico and did nothing to address the real issue facing the country today - what to do with the 12 million undocumented people that are currently living in this country? I could not support the bill because of its complete disregard of the complex dynamics of our immigration situation.

The Senate Republican Leadership also agreed to address immigration reform this Congress. At the end of March, the Senate Judiciary Committee, under substantial pressure from Presidential - hopeful Majority Leader Bill Frist, reported out a bill that included a guestworker program for the agriculture industry and provided a path to citizenship for the current illegal aliens abiding in the country. As Senators began debating the bill , negotiations regarding how many and which amendments would be offered fell apart. This is an important point because amendments could completely change the character of the underlying bill. Though Senators have publicly committed to continue negotiations, it remains highly unlikely that a bill addressing comprehensive immigration reform will pass in this Congress.

Despite this impasse, the fact remains that 12 million undocumented immigrants continue to reside in the United States and this issue will not go away. I strongly believe that next year, in a year without an election, cooler heads could prevail and comprehensive legislation may be possible.

In the mean time, I will continue to support bills that promote family reunification, asylum and refugee admissions, employment-based immigration, and a path to legalization while striking the balance between American jobs, border safety and national security interests.

Please do not hesitate to contact me as this debate will surely continue.

Sincerely, SAM FARR Member of Congress

This is a reply I received from Con Sam Farr, imaca17@mail.house.gov (Monterey, CA), asking him to support HR-4437. At least we know where he's coming from on this issue.

You think? (rhetorical ques to Con Farr)

So MAYBE we should secure the border?

So MAYBE we should find out how many invaders there really are in this country, maybe we should NOT dispense amnnesty like it were PEZ from a dispenser.

If your boat is sinking, the first thing you do is plug the leak. After all the new, intrusive water has been stopped it is time to start dealing with the mess inside the boat. When Congress seals the border tight, then, and only then will I be able to believe anything they have to say about illegal immigration.

This lawmaker seem to have conveniently forgotten that, in a nation governed by the rule of law, there are real consequences for ignoring lawbreaking. The rule of law demands serious consequences for ignoring lawbreaking.

Lawmakers will get the message or taxpayers will know the reason why. Now is the time for law-abiding citizenry of America to notify the US Dept of Justice, that many of our "so-called lawmakers"---who are under oath---are ignoring our laws, and are aiding and abetting the illegal activities of aliens on US soil. Disregarding the committing of crimes is a crime in itself. US laws demand prosecution for aiding and abetting lawbreaking.

PARTIAL LIST OF ILLEGAL ALIENS' FEDERAL CRIMINAL FELONIES

1 - Use of illegal ID or documents
2 - Federal income tax evasion
3 - Re-entry into USA after deportation
4 - Obtain/Operate vehicles with illegal ID
5 - ID theft/fraud - Social Security fraud
6 - Knowingly gaining employment fraudulently
7 - Recruiting other illegal aliens workers
8 - Transporting illegal aliens
9 - Harboring &/or housing illegal aliens
10 - Undermining US national security
11 - Registering/Voting using fraudulent documentation
12 - Conspiracy to violate federal statutes
13 - Uttering false statements to public officials
14 - Obstructing law enforcement

FREEPER ACTIVISM: If duly elected officials, under oath, are encouraging ILLEGALS to break the law, to obtain the unlawful right to vote, and obtain unauthorized government benefits using fraudulent documentation, and if elected and appointed officials did, in fact, allow illegals to break the law to serve on municipal councils, and if illegals are making monetary (taxing) decisions for U.S. Citizens, this might be a violation of the Hobbs Act. If elected officials took campaign contributions from said illegals, this could be characterized as extortion, and/or bribery, and a violation of the Hobbs Act.

The Hobbs Act was used recently to nail four TENN state legislators and their aides in an extortion scheme. The TENN groups was arrested under the federal Hobbs Act, charging extortion, conspiracy to extort and attempted extortion, and accepting bribes as an agent of the state. The Hobbs Act covers extortion by public officials, as follows: 2403 Hobbs Act -- Extortion By Force, Violence, or Fear

SOURCE October 1997 Criminal Resource Manual 2403 http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/crm02403.htm

9-131.000 THE HOBBS ACT -- 18 U.S.C. § 1951
9-131.020 Investigative and Supervisory Jurisdiction

Primary investigative jurisdiction of offenses in 18 U.S.C. § 1951 lies with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Inspector General's Office of Investigations, Division of Labor Racketeering (formerly the Office of Labor Racketeering), United States Department of Labor, is also authorized to investigate violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1951 in labor-management disputes involving the extortion of property from employers by reason of authority conferred on investigators as Special Deputy United States Marshals. Supervisory jurisdiction over 18 U.S.C. § 1951 is exercised by the following offices with respect to the offenses noted:

1. Extortion under color of official right or extortion by a public official through misuse of his/her office is supervised by the Public Integrity Section, Criminal Division.

2. Extortion and robbery in labor-management disputes is supervised by the Labor-Management Unit of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section, Criminal Division.

3. All other extortion and robbery offenses not involving public officials or labor-management disputes are supervised by the Terrorism and Violent Crimes

FREEPER ACTIVISM: We demand that the DOJ enforce the laws, and prosecute anyone who aids and abets illegal activities, including legislators who ignore rampant lawbreaking.

"Comprehensive immigration reform". Translation: another amnesty for people who would otherwise never be admitted to the country, another promise of enforcement that will never happen, a "guest worker" program whose "guests" will never leave, and another 40 million illegals flowing in to replace the newly-legalized ones in the next decade or so.

Its gonna cool off now since ICE made the nationwide busts on employers and illegals they had to put on a good show to appease the angry Americans who still know the law and the Constitution .

I hope in years to come there are still enough knowing Americans to care that we have our own Country.....

"...they pay taxes..."

What a load of B.S. They are here ILLEGALLY and do not have Social Security ID numbers. I'd like the congressman to explain the following:

How do they pay Federal Income tax?
How do they pay State Income tax (if applicable)?
How do they pay State disability taxes?
How do they pay into Social Security system?

Even if they were given amnesty, by the congressman's own admission, they would be in the lowest income bracket which means they will still not have to pay taxes.

Every time I hear a politician or an apologist claim that these ILLEGALS pay taxes, I want to slap that person.

So let's get their butts back to Mexico, where they can live in the open.

Dear John Q. Public,

How dare you criticise me! Maybe we need to raise taxes again - you obviously have too much free time.

Listen peon, this is OUR Ivory Tower and we'll run it any way we want.

Now f*ck off.

Sincerely,
Senator Foghorn

This is the killer paragraph. He's saying that if they do the deed right AFTER an election, they think that by the next election, voters will forget.

I say he's wrong.

I'm amazed you wasted 39 cents sending a letter to Farr on anything. What a pathetic dufus. He flies the UN flag in his office instead of the US flag. Even with Dems he has no pull, they bring construction companies down from Alaska to tear down the old building at Fort Ord cause he can't get anything for Monterey County. But his wife Shary shops in my wifes store so I have to keep my mouth shut in public.

Cong Sam Farr's letter indicates he is violating his fiduciary duty as an elected official under oath, and he is ignoring the improper use of tax dollars for illegal purposes (SEE PARTIAL LIST OF ILLEGALS' FELONIES ABOVE).

Cong Farr's blatant fiduciary negligence has placed tax-exempt investors and holders of California tax-exempt transportation and highway bonds, municipal school bonding, and utilities bonding, in financial jeopardy.

If Cong Farr ignored illegal aliens registering to vote using phony documentation, and if Farr failed to notify authroities that illegal aliens voted on bond issues referenda, that might be classified as a felony, and could negate California's municipal subdivisions' tax-exempt bond issues.

The SEC likes to know when the financial interests of tax-exempt bondholders have been jeopardized, and whether other illegalities occured. They should be advised of these concerns. EMAIL enforcement@SEC.gov

=====================================================

Bonding agents, and banks, doing business with the state of California and its municipal subdivisions are registered broker-dealers and members of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC). NASD and SIPC should also be contacted regarding your concerns about fiduciary negligence, and use of tax funds for illegal activity.

=======================================================

Banks doing business with municipalities that are conducting illegal activity are jeopardizing bank patrons, shareholders, and depositors and should be reported as follows:

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is the primary federal regulator for national banks. The OCC's Customer Assistance Group is available to assist customers with questions or complaints concerning national banks. Email to Customer.Assistance@occ.treas.gov.

You can reach one of the OCC Customer Assistance Specialists by calling toll free number, 1-800-613-6743, Monday-Thursday, 9-4, and Friday 9-3.

=================================================

Moreover, if banks excercised fiduciary negligence and misused the sanctioning power of the FDIC in improper ways, and engaged in illegal activity with government funds, that should also be pursued with the FDIC.

=================================================

And of course, Cong Farr's fiduciary negligence conducted in collusion with California officials, banks, and securities dealers to jeopardize tax-exempt bondholders should be reported to the IRS.

"By forcing these hardworking individuals to remain in the shadows..."

I wasn't aware we were forcing illegals to do anything....I'll never forget meeting Sam Farr when he was a state assemblyman. He kept me waiting for over an hour in the hallway to his office, then walked out and spoke to me there (maybe they were fumigating his office for big cockroaches) with an ice cream cone stuck to his face. First and lasting impressions. But then he's from the Republic of Santa Cruz where even the mayor was an avowed marxist!

in a year without an election, cooler heads could prevail

But, who wants a drafty toilet?

Transzlation: "After we are reelected, we'll (quietly) ram something egregious through, and hope nobody remembers it nearly two years later."

they perform low-paid, unskilled jobs few Americans desire or seek

Thank you. 4 years apprenticeship, including night classroom training in blueprints, specifications, building code requirements, construction math, basic surveying, and construction economics, after working in the field by day, to become a journeyman carpenter is NOT "unskilled jobs few Americans want or seek". Same for fellow-crafts (some even more so) electrician, plumber, mason, roofer, heavy equipment operator.

Agriculture? Don't forget, chicken plants, meat packing, and canneries are also "agriculture". I worked with older nurses who did seasonal work "chicken shopping" to earn their nursing school tuition.

The only truely 'unskilled job' seems to be Congresscritter: Any con man with a gift of rabble-rousing gab, a penchant for sleaze, unlimited greed, a total disregard for the truth, and unmitigated gall can get themselves elected.

Fortunately, there are many others who run against them. Some even, against all odds, manage to get elected.
