Immigration Prospects Brightening

The Washington Post reports this morning that prospects for the Senate's immigration package are dimming, due to House members' concerns about November's election:

Republican House members facing the toughest races this fall are overwhelmingly opposed to any deal that provides illegal immigrants a path to citizenship -- an election-year dynamic that significantly dims the prospects that President Bush will win the immigration compromise he is seeking, according to Republican lawmakers and leadership aides. Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) will not allow a vote on a House-Senate compromise that does not have the support of most GOP lawmakers or one that would undermine the reelection chances of his at-risk members, aides said. According to GOP lawmakers and strategists, about 75 percent of the 231 House Republicans are steadfastly opposed to the Senate bill or even a watered-down version of it.

The Post's article cites poll's that supposedly show strong support for the administration's plan, but, as one House member says, "they must not be polling anyone in [my] District."

I notice that the only time the fraudulent Washigntion Post has come out with any "polls" in recent times, showimng "support" for the Bush administration's plans, is when that plan fits in very nicely with the RATS plan to legalize a bunch of rabid, America-hating Mexicans, so they can vote in the RATS to the control of the congres and ultimately the Presidency.
So much for the value of drive-by media "polls".
Let's face it, the RATS are so far out of the views of mainstream America on most issues that, they have clearly figured out that the only way they can win, is to give citizenship's to rabid "reconquista" Mexicans, a bunch who fit the demographics that regularly voter for the RATS.
Not gonna happen.

It appears our phone calls and letters are working gentlemen (and ladies).
Time to DOUBLE UP with our letters and phone calls and keep up the pressure on our congressmen.
That treacherous Senate Immigration Bill has to die, and it will.

The Post says "short-term Republican politics," when what it means is, the will of the American people.

Can't say that any better.

Amen to that...then, after the Senate bill dies...so must the political careers of those who supported it

"10 points from Los Angeles Times"

Illegal aliens do not pay taxes without accountability.
40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are
working for cash and not paying taxes.

Illegal aliens rape and murder Americans without accountability.
95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

Illegal aliens will inherit and bankrupt America.
Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien
Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare

Illegal aliens bring Americans infectious hepatitis,
incurable tuberculosis, typhoid, cholera, mumps,
Chagas disease, leprosy, incurable Morgellons disease, and Dengue fever. They deliver the diseases that Americans will not.

This is really important because it means their constituents don't want them to vote for this mess, which strongly suggests that polls showing that most Americans favor amnesty are wrong.

Exactly right.
Now why didn't I think of that?
Sigh.
Need to work on me writing skills. :)

It's too late. Six members of my family who vote straight Rep. ticket have vowed to never vote again. Don't care who they elect. Think we all forgot: government is not your friend. Always follow the money. Only curious now how much money is in ALL those congressional freezers.

If possible, try to visit your Congressman's local office. Even a brief visit with a junior staffer carries huge impact.

I went to my Congressman's office on Friday to deliver a letter of support (he has been solid) and was invited back for a meeting with Congressman over the break.

The White House and MSM will be placing brutal pressure on the good guys. We must fight as hard as we can.IMHO

Appears you come from a family of quitters. I'm not sure those are the people I want choosing this nation's leaders anyway.

"It's too late"

Naaah.
This is democracy at work right here.
We let our congressmen know what we think about a bad bill, and our congressmen are now even more determined to vote against said evil Senate Bill.
At this rate we are not only going to retain the House in November, we might even gain some seats, as the American public find out how really evil the Senate Bill is and turn on the RATS, and they will.

Exactly - we need to find 6 replacement voters though who won't quit.

Your position (IMHO) is national suicide. The world is going to engulf and destroy a "walled off" USofA. Already manufacturing is leaving, agriculture is next. American Capitalism is going "overseas". Americans can be a part of this movement if they join in and not build a wall of separation.

Here south of LA (Orange County) the statistics are probably half that which is still completely unacceptable.

I'm sitting on my front porch now watching the people parade on the ocean walkway in Newport Beach. Even here about 15% are "bangers", ten years ago there were none giving me their defiant home boy stare.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson reported on Lou Dobbs last week that her phone calls, emails, and mail were running nearly 2000 against and less than 20 for the Bush-Fox-Kennedy-McCain Amnesty Bill. I guess since the illegals own the Oval Office and the United States Senate, there is no need telling Senators that cannot be bought that you support amnesty.

This selling of America on immigration is not the first asset to be sold, as you unwhittinghly point out. The Damocrats and the RINOs have been doing it for years... Probably with your support.

"Your position (IMHO) is national suicide"

Naaaah.
Open boarders, where any cocaine smuggler or murderer from Mexican can walk in is national suicide.
From an earlier post in this same thread:

95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

Now that's what national suicide is really like.

"The world is going to engulf and destroy a "walled off" USofA"

Hey, you at the wrong place.
You lost your way, when you were going to the monbats at Kos/Du/moveon.
They buy that hysterical garbage.
We don't.

Taiwan, South Korea and Singapore have some of the toughest immigration policies on the planet, they hardly ever let in ANY illegal immigrants at all, and they have been some of the most successful economies on the planet in the past 40 years.

So much for your "The world is going to engulf and destroy a "walled off" USofA".
It's nonsense.

American Capitalism is going "overseas".

Is that why we just had a scorching 5.3% GDP growth?

Americans can be a part of this movement if they join in and not build a wall of separation.

You mean "join in" the Mexican rush into economic ruin and chaos?
Thanks, but no thanks.

So, using my "fuzzy math", 75% of 231 is about 173 members - that leaves more than enough Congressmen to pass the compromise bill.
