Houston - Authorities have arrested 326 people in the Houston area, including some accused of murder, as part of a national crackdown on illegal immigrants.

They were accused of crimes including homicide, aggravated sexual assault of minors, robbery, assault, human smuggling and narcotics trafficking.

``Criminal aliens are a threat to the safety of our children, families, community and our nation,'' said Kenneth L. Landgrebe, field office director for Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Detention and Removal Operations office in Houston. ``Our goal is to remove these threats from the United States.''

Thirty of those arrested were fugitive criminal immigrants with final orders of deportation, 89 were non-criminal fugitives with final orders of deportation and 17 were illegal aliens with criminal convictions. The rest were immigration violators.

Immigration officials have deported 142 of those arrested to their home countries, which include Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, India and Pakistan.

The initiative, dubbed ``Operation Return to Sender,'' targeted illegal immigrants who had received final removal orders from a federal immigration judge. It began May 26 and ended Monday.

"...Good deal! Now if they'd start hauling the Katrina evacuees out of here!..."

I got a kick out of the President's comments the other day in his press conference: He said(paraphrase) that Mississippi was 96% clean. debris was removed. He then said the the people of LA and NO ought to "Get after it!" It's still a mess down there. I have noticed the press is reluctant to show any truth as to how the rebuilding process is going. No doubt about it, Katrina people are scattered all ovr Texas collecting every bit of aid possible.

Put three 0s after that figure, deport them all, and then we'll be off to a decent start.

That one should be arrested for a fashion violation. His hip huggers are too low, only plumbers can wear their pants like that.

Oppose the "One Face at the Border" initiative Email your Members of Congress asking them to oppose the "One Face at the Border" initiative

In 2003, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the creation of a new Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) position and the “One Face at the Border” initiative. Under this plan, a new position, the CBPO, would combine the duties of legacy inspectors from Customs, the Immigration and Nationalization Service (INS) and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) into a single front-line border security position. With 41,000 employees, CBP is in control of 317 official ports-of-entry for travelers and cargo.

Essentially, the “One Face at the Border” initiative was aimed at unifying the inspection process that travelers entering the United States have to go through. Instead of making three stops – an Immigration Inspector, a Customs Inspector and an Agriculture Inspector – travelers would meet with a single primary inspections officer who was specially trained to do the job of all three.

Consolidating these three organizations has caused logistical and institutional chaos and has taken attention away from critical homeland security priorities. It is true that all three of these organizations deal with front line border and port security, but they do so in very different capacities.

Please email your Members of Congress asking them to oppose the "One Face at the Border" initiative and support a detailed, independent review of the proposal.

I doubt any of those criminals were actually working construction or in restaurants. If anything, the crime rate will go down a little, and less kids will fry their brains on methamphetamines. Of those that did actually work, it won't make the slightest bit of difference. They'd have to arrest and deport 100x that many. Lets hope they keep up the good work.

That's a good pic for an "America, you are too fat" fitness awarness campaign. There is so much blubber in America, if everyone went for lippo suction, It would fuel the nation for decades.
